My vote goes to Contreras.

I'll second that, with Thome, Dye, and Konerko following.

Team effort

I vote Thome. He kept us in and even won us several games.

Thome has cooled off a bit recently. But during the very beginning of the season, he kept us in a lot of those games. Jim had a great start.

I say Thome, he has completely changed the way pitchers approach our team, and is the spark that ignites this offense every game.

Thome and Contreras.
Thome and Contreras.
runners up: Dye and Konerko
honorable mention: Jenks

Can I vote for Ozzie? I know he's not a player, so maybe I should change it to MVM, but this guy has done a great job yet again. There's so much potential for the club to hit an early season lull after coming off such a high. He completely avoided it and is getting these guys to play like they haven't won in 89 years.
As far as players go, it's hard to give the vote to a pitcher because they aren't every day player and only contribute in 1/5 of the games. Granted its a bigger contribution, but I'd have to vote for Thome or Paulie, with third place going to a combination of Dye and Crede.
The April Cy Young goes to Contreras though, hands down.

Dogfight between Thome and Jose.
I'm voting Thome because he's played every game, and his impact has been huge. He really jumpstarted us the first couple of weeks. And I loved that HR off of Yoh Han (at the game w/ my Twins fan friend.)

"You bellowed, sir?"
"I want to talk about this Cuban kid they have in Chicago, name of Contreras. This kid is hot! Hot stuff! The Yankees need his arm! Why can't we have an arm like that?"
"Actually, we traded Contreras to Chicago for Esteban Loaiza."
"Esta-who-now? You mean you traded away this hot Cuban arm? ARRRRGH! Do I need to shorten your leash again Cashman?"
"That would imply you've let me have some leash, sir."
"BAAAAAH! Send in Costanza! I need to ask him a question about cured meats."

I vote for Ozzie. He got the team out of the gate hot and didn't let the 4 losses in the first 5 games affect them long term.
He's worked the bullpen well and managed to get everyone playing time and that is already paying off with guys like Mackowiak starting to hit.
Contreras or Jenks are my votes for players. Bobby's performance last night was about as dominant as you can be. 11 pitches, 10 strikes, one sawed off bat and 3 K's and yes, I am aware it was already May.
For offensive players, how about Crede? His bat was almost the equal of Dye, Thor and Walnuts and his defense was otherworldly (Dye had a pretty good defensive month too) and then there is Iguchi...
Such a team effort and the team is still coming together. Absolutely amazing...

Konerko has my vote, he is off to a great start, no matter what Baseball Tonight says.

My vote is Thome with Dye right there.

Hard to argue with his solid outings
Ol' No. 2

Gotta go with the Thominator. He's made the whole lineup around him better. There are 5 other players in the lineup hitting above .300, many of whom are historically bad in April.
