The Sox are 16 and 3 in their last 19 games.

The 17 victories in April match the all-time Sox record.

17-7 in April for the Sox, plus their 19 wins out of 22 to end 2005, gives the Sox a record of:

36 and 10 in their last 46 games, which is .783 baseball. That's insane.

I loved Ozuna playing the role of igniter in the 9th. Nice job by Podsednik moving him along after he stole 2nd.

Garland threw pretty decently. Not great, but it was nice to see him going inside more frequently.

All in all, a sweep is a sweep, bring on the Jndjans.

Seriously though, way to kick some ass. Garland had 2 bad innings but got over it. The offense was there and hopefully JD will be fine.
This is probably the best that we've done in the west for as long as I can remember.

Great win. Fun series to watch. Respond to the bonehead by sweeping their ass. I feel so confident watching this finely put together team. Today, everything they threw at the Sox was answered. And then Zoom pinch runs, steals, gets bunted to third, and scores on - what new - a wild pitch. Great start..........again. Keep it going! And Cleveland? We're coming. Go-Go Sox!!

Yea, I think this is the first time I've watched Baseball Tonight this year and the only reason I am watching now is b/c I am waiting for the Sunday night game, which will hopefully be a quick one or a blow-out so I can start studying. Anyways, he went on to say that if he could pick ANY player in baseball right now to build a team around, he'd choose Paplebon. If that doesn't spell I-D-I-O-T nothing does.

I used to ask myself how such idiotic analysis didn't get guys fired. But the last 10 years at ESPN has been atrocious, so much so that it went from a "must watch" station for most sports fans to a "don't watch" station to intelligent sports fans. Pathetic turn-around.

not trying to copy hangar here.. but figured i had to post something about it:

just watching BBTN (by the way it's 40 mins into the show and all they did is show Thome's RBI single and Pablo coming home). But Neyer made the comment,
"How big has this guy [Thome] been to the Sox" - or something along those lines...

Then dumbass Brantley says,
"oh yeah.. especially with Paul Konerko getting off to such a slow start" - once again not verbatim, but really close.

I thought Brantley was wrong, so I went and looked it up: I'm still not sure, you tell me.

P Konerko (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stats/individual_stats_player.jsp?c_id=cws&playerID=117244) CWS 1B 23 86 21 32 7 0 6 19 57 12 8 0 0 .450 .663 .372...

i think you all can figure out the important catagories.. 6 HRs, 19 RBI, 21R, 12 BBs... oh yeah.. and a .372 AVG!!!!

Jeff Brantley, I cannot stand you, you absolute dumb****. The fact that ESPN gave you a job says a lot about their organization. *****; you suck

On tonight's show during Sox/Angels highlights while speaking of Thome, they said good thing we have Thome and Jeff Brantley chimes in; "especially with Paul Konerko's slow start." Way to go, Jeff! That ought to help reduce Pauly's All-Star vote total. I would imagine the show preceeding Sunday Night Baseball is their most viewed of the week - just a guess - so the damage is done.

Not really. He'll have to make certain that every team is represented. Plus, I am pretty certain he must consult with MLB officials on his picks. Things changed after Torre went Yankee crazy a few years back. The result is that the manager really only gets to make a few selections with no restraint.

EDIT: From wikipedia:

Each team consists of 32 players, selected in one of the following ways, listed in order:

Fan voting: Baseball fans vote on the starting position players for the All-Star Game, with ballots distributed at baseball games before mid-season and, more recently, on the Internet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet). When the game is played at an American League park, the designated hitter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_hitter) for the AL team is also selected in this manner.
Player voting: As of 2005, pitchers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitcher) and one back-up player for each position are elected by the other players. If the top vote-getter at a certain position is also being voted in via fan voting, then the second-place finisher in this category is chosen for the team.
Manager selection (first): The manager and the Commissioner's Office (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_Commissioner) will fill the roster up to 31 players.
Final vote: After the lists of 31 players for each league is announced, fans will vote for one additional player, chosen from a list of 5 players provided by the manager and the Commissioner's Office.
Manager selection (second): After the final vote, the manager and the Commissioner's Office will replace players who are injured or declined to participate. Each major league team is guaranteed to have at least one player selected to participate.

Hawk said something like "discomfort in the calf" late in the game. Didn't sound too serious.
He'll probably take a couple games off then because didn't he miss time earlier in the season for the same reason?

I thought it was a great sweep and loved to see everyone involved, I think the only guy I didn't see was Gload, but I could be wrong! I bet the Angels fans are wondering what the heck happened to the stupid Rally Monkey.

The Rally Monkey proves to be ineffective when you're facing the Palehose Six! :D:

Three straight wins in Anaheim. Where have I seen this script before?

"You remember that one time, when the Sox won three straight in Anaheim, with 4 complete games, and won the pennant? That was awesome."

A lot of them seem to have found their way to the Angels message board on ESPN.com and are trolling up a storm; some very entertaining reading there!

Actually the Sox went 17-1 in their last 18 regular season and post season games in 2005 to go along with this year's 17-7 start. That's 34 and 8 in their last 42 games.

Once again.....

Ozzie consults with the commissioner's office and they consult with ALL A.L. managers to get their take on who should be considered for the All Popularity Contest team.

Ozzie DOES NOT have absolute authority to pick the reserves.

After Joe Torre abused that function, MLB stepped in to prevent any scenario's where one team will have eight or nine representatives.

All you need to know about Brantley was his comments last year on how the Sox were abusing CHAD Hermanson.

Seriously folks are you all masochists? WHY do you even watch one nanosecond of the Eastern Sports Programming Network?

What Comcast Sports Chicago with the White Sox post game show and Sports Night isn't good enough for you?

Maybe Brantley was looking at last year's stats for Paulie. Lord knows, George just put up my article from exactly one year ago on the front page a few minutes ago. (Not his fault. I sent him the wrong one. I'm going to have to start putting YEARS on those file names instead of just month and day.)

Impressive.
Now I'm speechless....Homefish makes an unambiguous positive comment about the White Sox.

Is this a sign of some sort?

The night in Sports Nite is spelled N-I-T-E. :D:

But seriously, I'm obsessed with the Sox and Comcast doesn't have coverage all the time, a lot of the time they have some golf show or poker on. ESPN is the next thing to get my Sox-highlight fix.

It's not anyone else's fault that you haven't started an all-Sox television station! :D:

They still know how to win in the clutch and the Sox just left one of their biggest challengers in the dirt just like last year. A sweep in LA is a great way to end April. This team has more than enough in them to win it all again. "Let's do it again!"

Didn't get to see the game and it wasn't national, but when that final popped up on the game tracker on ESPN 2, I was living pretty large at work. Made the night go much more smoothly...

How bad does it suck to be a toon fan right about now... 3 games back... on the kitties and dropping toward .500 again...

If you would have told me that after the first month of the season, the Sox would be up 8 on the Twinkies and 4.5 on the Tribe, I would have been shocked. Still am.

Trib says Ozzie wanted him rested for Cleveland and didn't want to take a chance. Looks like he won't miss more.

This is the third time this decade the Sox have reached 17 wins in April: 2000, 2005, 2006.

17-7 last year, 17-7 this year. No one can harp about the past.

That's incorrect. They won 16 of their last 17 (16-1) last year, and 19 of their last 22.

So they're 33-8 in their last 41 games, or 36-10 in their last 46 games.
