Dye has it both offensively and defensively. He makes outstanding plays look routine on the field, and he seems to hit the most when it counts. He doesn't just hit then, however, as his numbers show that he's hitting it often!

Selfless, team-oriented, charasmatic, deserving of respect. Jermaine Dye deserves props from not only Chicago, but everyone else!

I second that..... his outstanding attitude in the clubhouse and pure professional manner can't be overlooked either... White Sox fans need to vote this guy to the All-Star team!!!

Couldn't agree more. He seems to do everything without anyone noticing. When he won the world series MVP I was surprised, and then I saw his numbers and it all made sense. And as far as this year, he's quietly put up some huge numbers (2nd on the team in homers and rbi's). That makes for a wicked 3-4-5!

JD is the man. Quietly dominating out there.

Is it me,or does his quiet demeanor remind you of
Harold Baines in his prime?? I know JD's right handed,
but after he won the WS MVP,I thought about the fact
that he comes through in the clutch frequently, but you
hear so little about him.One of my favorite highlights from
last season was his game winning HR off "Cheater" Donnelly
to beat the Halos 4-3.

Um ..... is it time to extend JD's deal or does he go at the end of the year and we trade a pitcher for a Bobby Abreu-type outfielder. Personally, I give JD a 2-year extension with club option for 3d year. Sweeney's not ready to take over next year. Maybe 2008

I don't want JD going anywhere. I think he's an important part of the overall chemistry on the team.

I think he's an important part of the overall chemistry on the team.I agree with that... but do you really think Kenny is gonna let his OF picks sit in AAA until they are 30 themselves? Maybe we'll keep Dye as a 4th OF which ain't a bad thing but by '09 he'll be 34-35

He is just one of those guys that looks like he has beaten the injury bug and keeps getting better with age.

Like winfield he has the long lean body that translates to big power as they age and gain strength.

I was on his defense early last year but he has been stellar since some early problems.
He is sooo clutch at the plate, lately. World series 4th game- dye basehit up the middle ,harris scores!!!!

He is pure class on and off the field.

JD is a good MVP candidate for this team. The problem is, I can't even decide between him, Thome, PK, Buehrle, or Contreras. Our team is just so good.

YES! I've thought that before. He is indeed right-handed. And I've actually heard the man speak, which is another critical difference between Baines and him. But he is the same soft-spoken, professional, well-rounded, class-act that Baines was (and is).

Hawk made a good point at the rally last October that whoever came into right field and took over for Maggs would have a bit of a tough job. I personally bemoaned his departure. I was dead wrong. Dye is the bomb.

IIRC, the club has an option/buyout for 2007 and I would imagine that KW is going to excercise the option.

JD left the game today in the fifth inning with a sore left calf. :(:

Well said. This guy's presence on our team has been a very important component of our success. JD...YES!

As long as JD continues playing the way he does, there's no reason to let him go. He took less to come here last offseason, so I don't think he'd press the envelope in what he'd ask for. He is a tremendous help out there every day!

He just killed the Sox first with KC and then with the a'sses. When KW signed him I said *** he is always hurt and he's old. I guess I evaluate players like the c--- play baseball. All in all a great move -another one - by KW.

I think JD is the one member of our team who is most under the radar right now, which is odd considering he was World Series MVP. Think about it, Konerko, Thome, Pods, Jenks, Buehrle, and Contreras are all getting a good amount of attention. That's allowing JD to quietly put up monster numbers this year. Crede will get the same benefit, and it's really a great thing to see. There's nothing I like more than seeing good guys succeed.
