I hope Thornton gets some more action and nails down his release point. He hasn't gotten any action in 16 days before today. His arm is too outstanding to let him stagnate on the bench.

I believe Jose has given up just 4 runs in his last 36+ innings. Amazing, just amazing.

Also good to see a good 2-1 win. Good to see the team not make a big deal about AJ getting hit in a close game - there's always time to retaliate later. Or, better yet, just wait for em in the parking lot.

Incredible game...I love the fact A.J called for a curve on the last pitch. I thought for sure he was going with a fastball, and I was nervous he was sitting on it. That has to do wonders for Bobby's confidence...Jose better start getting more recognition as a top pitcher..All Star-hopefully God know's he deserves it.

Yeah, but Harris had a good stolen base percentage. Pods gets thrown at an alarming rate lately, and as you said, many times it's not even close.

I hope if it's just a mental thing he can turn it around, because he is most valuable as a baserunner. If he's lost a step due to age or injury, he's through.

There's no doubt in my mind that Pods has lost a step. Obviously, it's taboo to bring it up around these parts. It's obvious though. He doesn't have the explosion or closing speed that he once possesed. Really, it's been the same for almost 3/4 of a year. If he continues to hit and get on base, it doesn't matter. I'm still concerned though.

Anyway, Jose was awesome. The defense was awesome, especially Anderson. He gets unreal jumps and has a lot of speed in the field. I liked the way they played under pressure without scoring alot of runs. These are character building wins. :supernana:

Woo, Thome gets an extra piece of cake for that very important insurance shot.

Agreed. Tomorrow will be a good game to give some guys a breather before hitting Cleveland. Sit Pods and Iguchi tomorrow (maybe Paulie too) and settle the Pierzynski score. If you don't think you can make it, don't run. I don't want to hear excuses about why he's 4/8 this year and probably around 50% since the 05 ASG. I don't even like to see him run anymore. Cliff Politte faced two batters in the ninth after Vladimir Guerrero chased Contreras with a one-out single. Matt Thornton relieved Politte and got one out before Bobby Jenks got Edgardo Alfonzo to line out with two on for his seventh save in seven chances.

Last year at this time, Pods could pretty much call timeout to tell the pitcher, catcher, and infielders he was stealing and still safely swipe the bag.

I think its too early to say he's permanently lost a step. Hopefully its just lingering effects from the injury.

I think we just have to bide our time with Pods. It has to be lingering effects of the surgery. I cannot believe that he just got old right at the midway point last year and has permanantly lost a step. He should be a little more selective til he is 100%.

Molina is tough,so is Mauer.

Look for a pitcher to run against - they cant all be on the sox staff.

great game, Jose is amazing.

It constantly astounds me when I think of the guys that fell into our lap;some of the best in the league at their positions like Jose,Jermaine,Tadahito,Juan,Thome,AJ..... Kenny ,you the man.

Well, I am patiently waiting for MLB to go live, so I can find out what feed I get. I'll bet it's the Angels announcers. If so, I hope they don't start yammering on about how hitting AJ was an accident or ragging on Ozzie about his remarks, because I'm in a really nice mellow mood right now--and I'd like to stay that way.Whats the verdict? Who'd you get? Sox or Angels?

In the pre-game warmups, Hawk just pegged Escobare with a new nickname.....

"Bonehead"

I believe the exact quote was "He just earned himself a new nickname".

Funny crap. Thanks, Hawk! Love starting the game with a laugh.

Not a good time for Pods to have 'lost a step...' He can be a free agent after this season.

Anyway great job this evening. At least a .500 record on the West Coast, nothing wrong with that action at a minimum.

Now if only the Tigers would lose sometimes...

I think that you'll see the track legend, Jerry Owens, in LF for '07.
