Interesting..... Seeing that reshuffling thing going on with the games.... Just makes one wonder if the Cubune ever sold the Cubs; would they reduce the # of Cubs games on WGN and would the Sox pick up more games on WGN? sorry to make this into a Hangar thread... just wondered

The entire team is being sold to Liberty Media with other media properties.

http://money.cnn.com/2006/03/09/news/companies/timewarner_liberty/

There is a second bidder (Falcons owner Arthur Blank) for the Braves but they appear to be out as Liberty is able to make a larger deal to buy stations Time Warner is looking to unload. Time Warner did the Fox deal separately and should not effect their sale of the team (the new Braves owner will get the revenues from Fox vs. Time Warner).

Atlanta Braves Sale Progressing

Similar to the sale of the Nationals, Time Warnerís sale of the Atlanta Braves (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/24/AR2006042401882.html) appears to be down to two people. Arthur Blank, who owns the Atlanta Falcons, broke off negotiations with Time Warner in February because of the teamís price tag, but since then heís thrown his hat back into the mix. Liberty Media, a Colorado based media conglomerate, is also now involved in the negotiations for the team.

Time Warner is looking to reel in at least $400 million for the 14-time defending National League East champion Braves. The one thing that might push Blank out of the running is the fact that Liberty Media is looking to expand the deal with Time Warner to include more than just the baseball team. Liberty Media holds $3 billion worth of Time Warner stock, and thereís some speculation that Time Warner might unload some operating assets in exchange for Liberty Media's holding in Time Warner's stock. Speculation is that a stock deal could be accomplished that would save both parties a significant amount in taxes.

Although I'm a huge fan of Torborg, I hate to see the Braves guys getting pushed out. The Braves are right up there with the Marlins as being my favorite NL team. I've been watching games on TBS since '88 when I first had cable, and I've always liked the Braves annouce crew.

I hate to see the Braves leaving TBS.

Listening to Joe Simpson makes me appreciate DJ as an interesting announcer.

Im must be one of the few people who enjoy Chip Carey. I don't enjoy him but do think he improved somewhat after he left the "friendly confines." The rest of the broadcast team is very good IMO. Things look bleaker on the field and at the mike for the Braves.
