Shouldn't the flying sock musical notes furthest away from the horn be faded out, rather than the other way around?

That would take a lot of skill to produce a louder sound further away from the source.

Lets make sure we all welcome Dan Bernstein to White Sox Interactive.

Um, Pods isn't overrated. Yes people do give him a bit more credit then he deserves, but if you're leadoff man on a World Series Championship team, and had 70 steals just two years ago... then you're not overrated.

That is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Who in the hell talks about Todd Walker? People believe Pods is overrated because he gets a lot of pub, and since he isn't a typical corner outfielder (RBI, HR, SLG) he's not very well received with people who rely on stats and don't believe he is great just because he's fast.

Again, look at that list and tell me HOW are Zambrano, Ramirez, and Walker overrated?

I think Bobby Jenks is much more "overated" than Podsednik. In fact, I heard he "overate" the whole team after the game last night.

:roflmao:Perhaps he's not actually playing the horn and just holding it up to his mouth, but instead there's someone out of the picture on the left side playing a horn.

Seriously though, I don't think Pods is overrated but jeez what a predictable bunch of responses. If you don't get agree then say why, instead of pulling all this troll crap.

What the hell does "over-rated" mean, anyway? Who rates the players? Are we talking about the numerical ratings that are given out for Baseball video games? Scott Podsednik is the leadoff hitter for the World Champs, that is all. I have no idea what, on earth, this :dtroll: is talking about.

I don't think he/she is a troll, but I have no problem with people here giving the thread starter a hard time about this.

I guess after our team won the World Series and has started '06 with a .667 winning pct, we Sox fans have nothing better to do on an off day than to complain about Pods being overrated.

Overrated compared to whom?

Is he a valuable leadoff man, base stealer and capable outfielder? Yes.

Is he the second coming of Shoeless Joe? No.

Leave Scotty alone.

When I'm driving home from work (between midnight and 1 a.m.), I hear people calling Sporting News Radio and saying Pods has no game,. The announcer agrees, saying that is why the White Sox will miss the postseason this year.

As little as people around the country seem to think of Pods, if he is overrated to boot, he would have to be very weak.

I think by nature of their media coverage, it's very easy for Cub players to be overrated and Sox players underrated. Seems like Cub players are always totally hyped up by everyone. On the otherhand, it's very hard for Sox players to get any respect. Look at last year - we won the whole damn thing, and all I ever hear is BS about how it only happened because the Sox were "lucky" and everyone had career years.

Now take Mark Prior. Is he overrated. YES! Does that mean he sucks - No. But, from even before he came up from the minors, the local and national media proclaimed him the messiah. His first major league game was a total media circus the likes of which can only happen at the Urinal. Don't get me wrong, he's a great pitcher - but he's injury prone and he's overrated. In contrast, Mark Buehrle has been quietly dealin' for 5 years without any hype (until last year's postseason).

Not to mention that you hit a game winning, walk-off homerun during game two of the World Series even though you are not a homerun hitter.

just a thought. who is more overated then Podsednik??

He's never been overrated.

People in Chicago realize he is an integral part of the team for two reasons:
1. We know how much the Sox suck without a leadoff hitter.
2. We know how useful speed can be both in OF defense and on the basepaths.

People outside of Chicago are the ones who call Pods overrated, and it is only because they are too ignorant to do any research. If they did, they would soon realize that people in Chicago only appreciate his abilities as a ballplayer and the way his style can change a game into our favor.

These (mostly) ESPN morons write about the Sox and try to come up with one specific reason why the Sox won last year and are winning now. The truth is there are many, many reasons, and one of them is the fact that we have a true leadoff man. The last time we had a true leadoff man IMO was when we had Lance Johnson, which was also the last time the Sox had a very good all-around team prior to 2005.

So overrated he hit the game-winning home run in Game Two of last year's World Series - after hitting no home runs all regular season. The guy started the season 0 for 35 or something because of an injury in spring training, and now he's up to the .230s.

I call him underrated....all of the "savants" call him overrated, which means they don't rate him highly, so he's underrated.
The man gets on base at .350, which makes him a pretty good leadoff hitter. And when his speed is working, then he's better than that.
