Whenever people bitch and moan about how people in the media treat Sox fans and mention these stereotypes and how they're "not true", I'll just reference this thread

You've never laughed so hard your abs hurt? It has to be a good sustained laugh for about 4 minutes.

Both workouts are quite funny but I think I'll stick to my Sox workout for now. The chicks dig it. :redneck

C'mon, you guys should just lighten up. I took Soxwon's post as an attempt at a humorous creative writing piece. And, as such, I thought it was pretty funny, and he obviously put some effort into it. Maybe someone should come up with a list of rules about when it is and is not okay to dish on the Cubs.

For example, Write Cubune Headline = Okay. New Cubs Fan Workout piece = Not okay.

The Tribune is directly related to the Sox.

The Cubs are not.

:dunno:

Exactly.

The fact of the matter is we as Sox fans are coming off a WORLD SERIES VICTORY and currently share the best record in baseball. To take time out of one's day to conjure up something unprovoked and uncalled for makes zero sense. Even in the middle of the most spectacular run the Sox have ever had, the Cubsession continues. Naturally, I continue to beat a dead horse and the Cubsessed will continue to tell me to not come to What's the Score if I don't want to read about Cubsession.

The Tribune is directly related to the Sox in that they have people out covering the Sox and writing about the Sox. The Tribune has a direct relationship with the Sox as the largest newspaper in Chicago.

The Cubs do not.

I think he wrote a really funny (and sometimes freakishly accurate) parody of a Cub fan. It was obvious what the thread was about from his subject so if you don't like it, move to another thread. It's all in good fun and I for one found it really amusing. A heck of a lot better than the folks who continue to post the same rehashed email forward garbage we've seen 1,000 times.

Okay, been here, done this, but I'm gonna try it one more time.

First, let's please stop with the name-calling. Dissing the Cubs does not make you "Cubsessed," anymore than criticizing a bad play by a Sox player makes you a "Dark Cloud."

Second, in some long-established Sox-fan families (such as mine), dissing the Cubs is a family tradition. It in no way lessened our pleasure in the Sox WS season.

Third, the thread-starter expressed an opinion. In MY opinion, he put a lot of time and effort into an attempt to write something creative and humorous, and that attempt deserved to be recognized. I appreciated it--and even if I hadn't, as Al Pacino said in "The Devil's Advocate," "Freedom of choice. It's a bitch."

And as far as beating the dead horse--go right ahead. It's easier to denigrate than to create.

Then you should reread the thread, Yoda. Start with post #3.

It's not that someone "dissing" the Cubs is a bad thing, it's when it's dwelled upon that it gets annoying.

And in the Parking Lot, it's every few minutes. And it's the same people.

To come to WSI and see it day after day while our Sox are the best team in baseball....It's sad, honestly.

I'm not gonna argue about it though, the Sox game is coming on.
