This was two days ago.

Steve Phillips compares '85 Bears to the White Sox.

Ditka : Guillen
Fridge Perry : Bobby Jenks
Singletary : Paul Konerko
Podsednik : Walter Payton
Richard Dent : Jermaine Dye
Fencik : Iguchi

I got a laugh out of it. It seem like he put some thought into it. (http://home.comcast.net/%7Emixmakers/phillips.mp3)

If I were going to compare anyone to Walter I'd say JD.
Also
Contreras -> Richard Dent (at his highest level, damn near un-blockable -- in JC's case, unhittable)
AJ -> Dan Hampton (rep for talking trash)
Pods -> Willie Gault (team speedster)
Rowand -> Dennis McKinnon (usually makes the catch even when he takes a hit)

But that's just me...

This is Speedy Willie, and I'm world class.
I like runnin' but i love to get the pass.
I practice all day and dance all night,
I got to get ready for the Sunday fight.
Now I'm as smooth as a chocolate swirl,
I dance a little funky, so watch me girl.
There's not one here that does it like me,
My Super Bowl Shuffle will set you free.

Now what if da bears played da White Sox. but with mini Ditka as coach vs. a mini Ozzie, yet Ditka's mustache and Ozzie's goatee are full sized? Who wins?

Wow. Steve Phillips may suck bad as a GM, but ever since midseason last year he's been a great analyst for the Sox. I think it was him who last year was the only one to predict that the Sox beat the Astros in 5 or less; everyone else said 6. Nice to see more Sox love coming from all the typical unusual sources like ESPN and Moronotti.

It's sacriledge to compare anyone to Payton. If I had to compare Pods to someone it would be Mike Richardson . I've been so sick of hearing about that team for the last 20 years and still seeing those guys schlep their names on tv and radio to make a buck. Go away already.

I don't like the comparison because the Sox are going to repeat.:D:And the Bears would've in 86 had that bastard Forrest Gregg not had his Packers take a cheapshot on McMahon.

These 2 are the most true on the list. Especially Fridge and Jenks. I've been saying that one for months.

One more thing. The greatest comparison anyone could make would be AJ to McMahon. Punky QB and our punky cathcer.:D:

Amen. I especially loath the Ditka-can-do-no-wrong mentality that was ably spoofed on "Saturday Night Live"

Until another Bear team wins the SB, this will continue to happen.

I too am sick of all of the '85 Bears talk but I guarantee in twenty years I'll still be talking about the '05 White Sox.

There are pictures out there of Jim McMahon in a White Sox uniform. I'm surprised none have been posted yet.

I guess Lorne Michaels is at least partially responsible for my dislike of the Bears

And, I can guarentee it will be the case for most people on this board. Championship seasons are rare, and they will always be celebrated. Some people may get tired of hearing about them, but it's not going to change.
