A quick Google search showed me that the Sox won 19 straight in 1906. It did not say if that is the franchise record, but I'm going to guess it is.

That was on the matrix board before Saturday's game. Based on that, 19 is right.

I'll take 30-7 over the course of two seasons, especially when part of the streak includes the playoffs...:D::cool::bandance:

The major league record for longest winning streak is either 26 or 21. The 1916 NY Giants had 26 in a row but that streak includes a tie game in the middle somewhere. The 1935 Cubs won 21 in row. The AL record is 20 by the 2002 Oakland A's followed closely by the 1906 White Sox at 19 (although that streak also included a tie game) and the 1947 Yankees also at 19.

I look forward to my dozen golfballs

Wall:

During the streak the Sox beat Boston six times, Philadelphia five times, the Highlanders (Yankees) seven times and Washington once.

The Sox actually had a 0-0 tie on August 13th of that year.

They won the first 12 at home... the rest on the road, until Washington beat them twice in a DH on the 25th (which happens to be my birthday...1955 though not 1906!!)

The Sox won the pennant that year by only three games so beating the Highlanders seven times in that stretch in essense won the title for them.

Second longest streak is 14 in a row from May 15-30, 1951, the start of the 'Go-Go' era and 'golden age' of Sox baseball.

gosh Lip I had no idea that you were such a youngster!

I was born in '50, but I'm afraid I don't recall that streak that "started the go go era" for some reason, I'm sure dad had the games on the radio while I was in my playpen
