Thome would be the obvious answer to who has been the most impressive new guy. So what about the others? Who has impressed you the most so far?

Though I haven't seen too much of him lately, I think Thorton has far surpassed my expectations. But now that I think about it, Vazquez is pitching great. He is hopefully regaining his Montreal form.

Cintron was a GREAT pickup.

Definitely Alex Cintron.

Cintron's been damn impressive

Thornton has the highest divergence between what I thought he'd do for us and what he actually has done for us. The highest divergence in a positive manner, I mean.

Vazquez, not that it is surprising, but he's the best 5th starter in baseball.

Cintron. I knew he could hit a little bit, but his glove has been better than expected. He isn't as good as Uribe, but he makes the plays he's supposed to make.

For me it was between Vazquez and Cintron, nut then I thought...Vazquez is supposed to be good. So, the nod went to Alex Cintron, who I didn't expect much out of other than Graffanino v2.6. However (knock on wood) if Uribe or Iguchi go down to injury for a brief period, I have confidence that Cintron will fill that roll well in their absence.

I originally went with Thorton for the same reasons that HF mentioned. But Vazquez has impressed me as being the very excellent pitcher I knew he could be.

Vazquez. It's sweet when you have a strong #5 pitcher!

Got to be Vazquez..

Javier Vazquez is our FIFTH starter..

It's almost a tie. I went Vazquez because he is a more regular player, but it sometimes looks like Cintron is playing himself into a position. I was very excited about both pick-ups.

Javier Vazquez is one of the top quality pitchers in baseball(.) period. He could wind up (pun intended) the 5th best starter in the show by the end of the year. (Well, he may) Cintron is sure gonna come in handy this summer, as are all of the guys in this poll. I really like them all, but Javier's stuff is truly nasty.

It has to be Javier, no questions asked. He is not only the best 5th starter in all of baseball, he might even be the best 4th starter. Remember that he has always been #1 or 2 on any staff. It's just too bad that we are so stacked with quality pitchers that he has to be our "5th" best.

I would say Alex Cintron for the fact that he can play any position in the infield and I would say he could fill in the outfield better than Ozuna can. Cintron's bat is great for a guy coming off the bench. He seems like a good guy too and is enjoying being the Sox!

Cintron can start on most teams in the league.

I went with Vasquez - 2 VERY nice outings in a row.

The guy that's done much more than I expected is Thornton.

I went with Cintron...Vazquez is supposed to be this good, so his performance shouldn't be a suprise. I didn't know much about Cintron, other than he was a role player on the DBacks. But he's been a very pleasant surprise.

I think he may be the best #3 starter in baseball, and he is our 5th starter.

What he said about Vasquez...The guy has been dynamite!:?:

This is true. I can think of quite a few teams where he would be the starter.

Before last night's game, Buehrle, Contreras and Vazquez were 2,3,4 in the AL in WHIP, right behind Schilling and ahead of Randy Johnson. So, I had to go with Javier. I don't think he hurt his cause any last night. Since the poll was for most impressive, my vote goes to Javier. He may be a top 10 or even top 5 pitcher this year in the AL.

Javier really has the stuff as evidenced last night. He is one of the better AL pitchers from what I've seen so far (spring training, early season)

Our starting staff will get more wins than last year with Vasquez.

It is Javier, IMO. He was more of a wild card to me than Cintron. I've seen Cintron play a few times already and was always impressed with his abilities. I knew he could be that good, but I don't think anyone thought Vasquez would be this good. Hopefully, both players will continue to perform exceptionally, making this a difficult decision all season long. :D:

I think Vazquez is the most impressive by far. Cintron has been better than expected and is a great asset for giving someone a night off or in case of injury. Thorton has been better than expected - thank you Coop. But Vazquez has been dominant at times.

I'd say Chris Singleton.

I'd say the new bat boy Strum, I believe.

I voted Cintron, but only because I want to see a couple more quality starts from Vazquez before I'm totally convinced.
