How did it start? I heard it was Manuel's fault, but not why. Something about basically giving a game away?

Be careful with the word curse on this site.

The Sox have had problems with Oakland for as long as I can remember, well back into the 80's and early 90's.

I'd like to pawn it off to bad teams, but we had a good team last year that went 2-7 with Oakland. There has to be something else wrong, even if it's simple like just being blinded by the reflection from their stupid white shoes.

You think it might have anything to do with the fact that we have trouble on the west coast in general (perhaps due to the two hour time difference) as well as the fact that the A's have had phenomenal pitching for the past umpteen years?

The Easter bunny, Santa Claus and other fictional characters were made up to amuse children. Curses were made up to amuse weak minded individuals.

Ya, a coincidence.

There is no curse. (Last year, we got screwed by Wendelstedt)

Coincidentally Hawk and DJ were discussing how good this umpiring crew was this weekend and Hawk mentioned a contrasting umpire crew in one series last year and DJ said'' would you be referring to Oakland?''

hawk's response'' I am naming names but yea.''

"Fictional"? "Made up"? You're not going to be dissing the Tooth Fairy, too, are you?:redneck

I'm not a believer in curses....but it goes even farther back...Oakland was a graveyard for the WSox back to the 70's. Bad things happening in a horrible stadium.

I'd still say the evidence for Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and even leprecahuns is better than that for baseball curses . . .
