So Zito is cruising 3-1, allowing just 1 hit after the 1st inning and succumbs to the dreaded 100-pitch mark. Tigers have tied it in the 9th...

Boy, Macha has really blown his pitching choices in this game. Ordonez leads off the 9th with a single, yet Macha refuses to bring in his closer...

They sure are. Walking in the go ahead run in the 9th is not good.

Where's the savior Huston Street? I'm pretty sure this would've qualified as a save situation...

Duchscherer walks another and there goes the lead...

Yeah, and he didn't pitch last night either. Duchscherer just pissed himself.

Street already pitched once in the series (Tuesday, S4). Maybe they have a rule about that.

So Saarloos comes in and gets 2 pretty quick outs... Macha stinks.

Obviously Duchscherer didn't have it today. Maybe around the time he gave up 4 straight hits that was made obvious...

Luckily for the A's, this game still involves Detroit using their bullpen, so they're still in this...

And Frank is up with Chavez on first. 0 out.

Detroit's trying to give it right back.

Who should I be rooting for? I know Detroit's in the Sox division, so I would say Oakland, but a hate Oakland. What a conundrum!

The SS blew that one. Should have headed over to 3rd immediately to get the throw back from the C for the DP.

Kendall grounds out, force at home. Bases loaded, 2 outs. The A's are trying as hard as they can to lose this one...

I agree. But who's a bigger threat to the Sox? As long as the Sox play well against them because I don't figure Detroit to be fighting for a division championship. In addition, I'd be a little nervous with the prospect of playing Oakland in the playoffs.

Having said that, I think the Sox' west coast woes ended last October. :D:

And we picked up 1/2 game on MN and Cleveland. Cleveland's pitching is in (general) disarray right now. They gave up 27 runs to Balt the last 2 days and might have 2 more relievers on the DL.

"Now you see why I fired him. Street was right there."

EDIT: On the bright side, Rodney got a win for me.

I don't know yet. Detroit could have a surprising season. The 1977 White Sox won 90 games, sandwiched between two abysmal years. Oakland could be a wild card race threat.. Detroit could be a threat in both the wild card and divisional races, although I don't expect them to be.

I still like the see Oakland lose, though.

For the 2nd straight game, Oakland has not brought in Street for the Save in the 9th. Is there some injury I dont know about?

This might be a time to swoop in on a guy to help my Fantasy closer situation!

From today's Oakland Tribune:

A's closer Huston Street was unavailable after straining his right pectoral muscle Tuesday while picking up a save in the first game of the A's series against the Tigers.
