If i was on the team and mentioned it yeah I would have angered them, but where has it ever been stated that a fan cant talk about it. I am at work an actually got a call from someone at the game. You honestly believe there are no fans talking about it at the game right now. Maybe a Cubs game where they dont know whats going on but not the Cell

Glad to see Podsednik with 2 hits today, but is it necessary for him to steal a base up 4-0... especially since his groin was questionable at the beginning of the season?

Oh No!

You have friends who spend their time at 'The Cell' on their cellphones!

They have angered the Baseball Gods twice over!

If it's any comfort, I did this same thing during last year's playoffs.

Of course, I did it on a UK Board, and I did it 'to' the Cards, not the Sox.

Agreed.

I remember when Wilson Alvarez threw his no-hitter. After the first inning I remarked to my friend how cool it would be if he threw a no-hitter in his Sox debut. When we returned from getting some nosh during the sixth inning, we saw that we had not "jinxed" him at all. We watched the rest of the game, proud that we had in fact "predicted" the feat!

Also, in my second ever game at New Comiskey in 1991, Frank Thomas stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. I predicted a grand slam. Next pitch, BOOM!

Jinxes, feh. Psychic powers, absolutely!

Let me tell you a little story.

It was my freshman year, 2 years ago. OPRF was playing York and we had our ace, Neil Mejia, pitching for us. As Neil is about to go out to the mound in the bottom of the 7th, one of our players goes, "Hey Neil, you know you got a no-hitter, right?" First pitch of the inning? Bloop single to center.

Sox Park! "Cominskey", Comiskey... not the "Cell"
I don't know any one who actually calls Cominskey (my preference) that
(And yes I know the spelling, that's what we kids called it growing up near the ballpark, where many last names ended in "ski")

Anyone know his velocity today. WGN does not pay for the radar gun evidently so no pitch speeds.

Javy was just overpowering today. The movement was great. They could not catch up to the high heat either.

Javy , welcome to the rotation. You belong in this illustrious group with an outing like this. Congrats.

For everyone that blames the loss of the no-hitter on jinx, they are way off, he didn't even come in until the top of the 9th with 1 outs.......:D:

:o:

The rules about talking about a no-no are fairly vague. The rules about telling the pitcher about the no-no are absolute. What a moron.

So did the rest of the team want to kill you for jinxing him?

first of all it's not a curse... it's a jinx! there's a difference.

secondly, i don't believe that this thread ruined Javy's no-no... however, it's still not something you say or talk about.

The late Ken Coleman tried to get around it by saying "there have been 6 hits in the game, all of them by Boston"

Of course as soon as he said it, Elston Howard broke up a no-hitter with 2 outs in the 9th :o:
