What is it? Beckett/Schilling? Oswalt/Pettitte? I can't think of all the combos, so I thought I'd see what WSI thinks. I am very high on Contreras right now, and think possibly Buehrle/Conteras are the best 1-2 punch in baseball.

Buehrle and Contreras, hands down.
Oswalt and Pettite would be second, but they dominate in the weaker league, facing a pitcher every 3 innings.

As for Schilling and Beckett, we will se how long either goes without landing on the DL. Maybe Schilling's problems from last year are solved, but Beckett cannot be relied upon at all, seeing as he goes on the DL several times a year.

I would go with mark and jose but in a close second in my opinion is Zito and Harden...i know the numbers arent there for zito right now but when both of those guys are on they give mark and jose a definate run at the top.

The idiots at SI don't even put Mark/Jose in the top ten. :kukoo:

Mark Prior and Kerry Wood.

Wait... you did ask for the best 1-2 punch in simulated games didnt you? :D:

I think Buehrle/Contreras are # 1. If AJ Burnett solifies himself, Halladay/Burnett are up there. By next year or in two years, I think Santana/Francisco Liriano will be up there if not #1.

Right now its Mark and Jose but in a month it could be Santana/Radke or even Halladay/Burnett or any other 1-2 combo. Theres not really a definitive 1-2 like Schilling/Johnson a few years ago.

I giggle sometimes when I think about the things Buehrle and Contreras can accomplish this year. Buehrle is wiser than ever, and Contreras is just freaking lights out. They have a good shot at a combined 40 wins.

Hoyt/Dotson or Hoyt/bannister

Greg Hibbard/Eric King

On the real, I think that Mark and Jose look like the best. But next year, it may be Santana/Liriano. We'll then have Mark/Jose/Brandon/Javy/Jon to counter. (Think that Freddy will be traded)

Ding dong- the radke is dead. he is done. We will lite him up on Sat.

Beckett's blisters are forming as we speak. you know that he will have finger problems again.

Schilling- we will see about him by august.

Zito- nope- no zip on his fastball anymore.

Liriano- unproven.

Pettite- wing is going

I will go with Jose and Burls.

Buehrle and Contreras, without question.

I have the feeling that Contreras is still far away from showing us the absolute best that he can do. When he does, he will be the most dominating pitcher in the game.
