Tonight Contreras pitched against KC and struck out 6, walked one and gave up one hit. He can be one of our better pitchers. do you think he will continue to perform like this all year??

Maybe not as dominant as that, but very solid at the least.

Good game tonight Jose!

As has always been the case with Jose, when he has control of his pitches and works fast he can be totally dominant against anybody!

Royals never stood a chance. Sox came out swinging and dropped two bomb in the first inning. After that JC put it on cruise control. Good win against a bad team...

Nice to see Uribe make some solid contact, Pods with a couple of hits and even BA with a single and a nice catch.

Those guys play up to their abilities, everyone else in the ALC is fighting to stay within 10 games of the Sox...

Nice game tonight. Looking a lot like a certain championship squad from last year. Let's keep it going.

Nice to have an easy win. Great job by Contreras. Hopefully, the Chicago media will spare us of anymore stupid articles about our team ERA tomorrow.

The only negative: Someone in the game thread wants Juan Pierre on our team instead of Garland. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd go get the chunks tag. :D:

I had a good feeling about Jose going into the year because he had great control in the spring. When he's in control he's TOUGH.

I think he's got a good chance to win 20 this year.

As for the game itself it was good to see Anderson, Pods, and Uribe all get hits and Logan and Politte to pitch well.

But remember, their team ERA is higher than last year, and the bullpen is not reliable.

Wow, spectacular game. Contreras was dominant, our bats were amazing, defense was awesome as usual, Pods/Anderson hit the ball (Pods hit the ball really hard everytime up), and the bullpen (Logan and Politte) looked very nice and promising.

Although it may have been against the Royals, it's still good to see all these good signs, especially against a team that we should be seeing these signs from and we didn't see last weekend. Great game...

Contreras has been amazing all year. It's early, but he should be a contender for the Cy Young.

Pods has been good the last 2 games. I think it's safe to say he is out of his slump.

People can't walk Thome. The Royals did that and they got punished by PK. You can't walk him either. Then Dye will punish you. Our 3-4-5 is the best in MLB. Even ESPN is now comparing PK and Thome to Manny and Ortiz.

Nice job all the way around tonight. When you get good pitching you can do anything! I was glad Politte had a good inning...right now he needs all the positive reenforcement he can get because he has been getting drilled.

I hope Garland can follow things up tomorrow. I'm not saying a one hitter but he needs a solid outing.

Just keep winning games.

Crede and AJ need a haircut? Fine

I'm thinking that maybe Paulie and Thome could get into some major friendly competition during this season. They seem to be feeding off each other. Our 3-4 hitters are the best we've had in a LONG time! It looks like our pitching staff has the offense to back them up this year. They won't be in as many close games as last year.

There are a lot of people who believe Jose never would have been this successful had he stayed in New York. In fact, the New York media thought Cashman's acquisition of Loaiza was a work of pure genius. The truth is we robbed the Yankees in that deal.

Just got back from the game. It was pretty cold out there.

I'm not liking the new Sox 'fans.' I nearly threw up when they tried to get a wave going late in the game.

Also, the bathroom by my section was disgusting. I was in 112 row 18. My shoes reek of urine from the stalls. Never had that problem before. Well, maybe at old Comiskey, but that was a given.

Traffic was a non-issue. I used my father's secret route to and from the ballpark. I got to park in the C lot which also made for a nice easy exit to my dad's secret route back home. I wish he was still here. He passed in 2002.

Jose was brilliant, our line-up is amazing, and I forever thank my dad for raising me as a Sox fan.

Sox finally win in my presence (1-3 in 2006)
Joe Crede hits a home run about 5 rows below me
Jose Contreras pitches 7 innings of 1-hit ball
Cliff Politte doesn't suck
Podsednik and Anderson got hits
Uribe is back
Konerko returns to form
we beat the crap out of Cy Mays

Nothing but positive things to say about this one. A flawless game. I'd like to see many more of them.

"The White Sox's last combined one-hitter came on May 25, 1979 against California when Ross Baumgarten went eight innings and Randy Scarbery one"

Now those are two names I have not heard in a long, long time!! I remember liking RB despite the fact that he was a Cubs fan. He was from some western suburb I think.

Loaiza was a one hit wonder as a Cy Young contender, but he is still a good pitcher. He had a rough 04, but rebounded last year. He may not be an ace, but he is a solid 3 or 4 right now, which is a hell of a lot better than he was when we picked him off the scrap heap.

Loaiza's 2003 was a joy to watch. He tried hard in 2004. He brought us our postseason #1 starter in 2005.

I don't see why any White Sox fan should be talking crap about Esteban Loaiza. That would be rather ungrateful.

Tell that to the A's. Loaiza has sucked so far this year. It must be the lack of run support. :D:

Just got back to school after the game. Sox dominated. Gotta love it when Brian Anderson has as many hits as the Royals.

Anyone at the game see the Cub fans getting stuff thrown at them as they were leaving the bleachers after the 7th inning I believe? Real classy. I was in right field and there people around me encouraging them and cheering them on. :(:

Great game by the Sox! Contreras was awesome and the Sox bats were alive against Cy Mays. I knew we were going to blast him. What a combination at 2-3-4 with Iguchi, Thome and Konerko. When they are hitting it is a guaranteed win.

My only problem was the amount of "new sox fans" who act like they have never been out of their house before. Cut it out with the wave, get off your cell phone, and sit down while the inning is in play. Anybody else think that way?

Sox are tied for first and have won seven of last eight, Pods is starting to hit, Konerko's doing some big-time damage, Sweeney was finally shut down in a Sox game (he's hitting .114?!), Contreras kept them off balance, BA got a hit and made a good diving catch, it didn't rain and the Buehrle tarp-sliding thing is water under the bridge.

The world makes sense again.

The Wave is nothing new. People have been pulling that **** for a few years now, much to my constant chagrin.

Good to see Anderson go hard for that fly ball. If you're going to hit .220, at least have a great motor out in CF. Do that and it'll be all good. Seems like the couple of days off may have given him the message about the level of effort needed to play at the major league level.

Everything else...just freaking awesome. Nice to go to this one after the rain-soaked debacle of Sunday. Sure it was cold, but all the cheering kept me warm! :D:

Why the teal? Rowand WOULD have caught the ball without diving...after it bounced a couple of times.

Seems like the couple of days off may have given him the message about the level of effort needed to play at the major league level.

Yes, Ozzie benched him for lack of effort. It was all over the papers. He's hasn't been telling Anderson to relax and stop trying too hard.

My buddy Tony and I felt the exact same way. Plus, there were some idiots behind us yelling 'Scottie' after Pods struck out and Iguchi was up to bat.

The wave absolutely sickened me.

And the new fans obviously have no respect because the washrooms were disgusting. They've never looked as bad as I saw them last night.
