Sunday was Huston Street bobblehead day at "beautiful" McAfee. Street hadn't blown a save since last July ( against the White Sox )

You can guess what happened.

Street gave up 4 runs in the 9th as Texas won 5-3.

It will take hours to remove all the bobbleheads from the field

Are you kidding me? Those bobbleheads have some weight to them and could actually be dangerous if thrown at somebody, but I'm surprised people would throw such a collectible stadium giveaway out on the field.

some teams give out bobbleheads as you leave the stadium

A few years ago MLB gave out Opening Day baseballs at all parks with predictable results

I remember a couple years ago during Loaiza's bobblehead day at the cell after he was traded, most people were tearing the heads off and throwing them around. It was a good thing out fans werent ignorant enough to thrown them on the field after a bad call. :redneck
Needless to say, we havent had a bobblehead day since.

It never works out well.

Actually, the dumbest promotion of all time was dime beer night in Cleveland.

A classic!

Announcer #1: And here come the pretzels!

Marge: Oh, no! No, don't do that! You're suppose to be tasting them!

Announcer #2: Hall of Famer Whitey Ford now on the field pleading with the crowd for... for some kind of sanity.

Announcer #1: Uh-oh, and a barrage of pretzels now knocking Whitey unconscious.

Announcer #2: Wow. This is uh...this is a black day for baseball.

The best was Mr. Burns winning the 1997 Pontiac Astrowagon.:D:

As much as I hate paying it; I am thankful beers cost $6+ at games. I know vice goods are relatively inelastic, but I have to think that price at least slows some of the, um, "troublemakers" down a bit.

I don't know... we had a certain promotion that can at least compete for that honor.

I guess CB Bucknor didnt' like that he didn't get a bobblehead (he was probably the 15,500th person to enter the ballpark), so he took it out on Huston Street. Now, I HATE the Oakland A's, and I'm not a fan of Street, but man Mr. Bucknor's strike zone was the size of my MLB potential.

cheap beer or exploding records in an outfield?

That would be a toss-up for the worst promotional ideas. I'm sure there are others.....

It was. I wasn't there, but I read about the riot (http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1124894) the next morning.

The site also links to a White Sox promotion.

As we all know, only White Sox fans charge the field and have unruly behavior. It is obvious to anyone that the people throwing the Huston Street bobble heads were Sox fans who were at the A's game to support former selfish star Frank Thomas.
