It takes most knuckleballers a few years to really master that pitch. I doubt the Sox are even considering bringing him up this year (barring multiple major injuries) or really even next year.

It seemed to me that the Sox gave Haeger a long look in Spring Training. However, Arizona does not seem a good envirnoment to evaluate a knuckleballer. If the Sox have an opening in long relief, I wouldn't be surprised if Haeger got the call-up.

You wonder how AJ or Widger could even handle the knuckleball.

Watching Wakefields last start, Boston's catcher had a hell of a time adjusting to it--and he's been working with Wakefield all spring.
