Exactly one year ago, the Cubs were 3-4, while the SOX were 6-2 and in 1st place, yet the Cubs last year were GETTING MORE MEDIA COVERAGE, while the 1st Place 6-2 SOX were being ignored. If the records were Reversed, would the 4-4 SOX be dominating the Media Coverage while the 5-2 tied for 1st Cubs be lagging far far behind .....RIGHT? WRONG.

The Cubs are 5-2, and are seeing the Media continueing to go HOG WILD over this "hot start" (the sox hot start was ignored, the media telling us it was too early to talk about 1st place in April) The SOX ended up winning the World Series in 2005, and are still treated like stepchildren here.

Despite winning the World Series in 2005, the White Sox inexplicably find themselves lagging far far behind in media coverage to the 4th place in 2005, zero 90-win seasons since 1990 cubs.
Chicago Tribune:
5 cub stories
3 sox stories
Chicago SunTimes:
4 cub stories
4 sox stories
Standings for Thursday April 13th, 2006
Priviledged, Media Owned, Media Favored, 4th Place in 2005... Cubs 246
Underdog, Media Maligned, Media Ignored, WS Champs in 2005.. SOX 213

Were also treated to some CubFluff regarding the "tv shack" and how some schmuck thinks its "historic" and is miffed that the hall of fame rejected his offer to have it displayed there. The space used for this story couldve been better served with a puff piece on AJ or Pods, but instead, the Trib writes a story about sheet metal.

I was waiting for a comment on this one. Anyone who still doesn't believe the Cubune shows bias towards the Cubs, and will run with any "friendly" story about them, no matter how stupid & meaningless, please direct your attention to the back page of the sports section. That has got to be one of the most, if not the most ridiculous articles to devote space to in a major city newspaper. (It still has the dent in the top of it from Scammy's HR in the 2003 NLCS !!!! HOORAY !!!! Still no placement of his name and the words "steroids" "HGH" "spousal abuse" or "cheating" in the same sentence though, right Trib ?)

Thats just the thing. Nobody has really ever heard of it nor cares, but the TRIB wants to make sure you know about it, by putting a story about it out there ..............................

This could not be more dead on. When the Sox were running hot early last year, all you'd hear was "they can't keep it up." Now, ONE WEEK into the season, they're erecting a trophy case at Wrigley.

A Maddux Masterpiece
is what Mike Kiley writes today. He gratuitiously mentions hall of fame and cy young 3 times in his propoganda piece, and tells how lucky Juan Pierre is
to be able to have played with greg maddux

Well, he will be in the HOF. It's just that the Cub Media fail to also mention that he will be wearing an ATLANTA BRAVES hat when he is inducted.

What bothers me as much as the newspaper articles is the garbage on the airwaves. The last two nights while driving home, I decided to put on the SOX FLAGSHIP STATION. One night it's Zack Zaidman, and you guessed it, it's all Cub talk. The next night, it's Lawrence Holmes with, once again, all Cub talk. It's as if they're going out of their way to show that they're not partial towards the Sox. Because we all know the Cubs flagship station does the same thing.

Well, the Sox have to put their WS trophy SOMEWHERE when we visit the Urinal, right?

The purported "Sox notes" portion of today's Trib (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/cs-060412soxbits,1,4133674.story?coll=cs-home-headlines) is headlined "Konerko: Cubs' signing of Lee 'a smart move,'" and begins by puffing up Derrek Lee and his new contract. The next item talks about a failed trade between the Tigers and the D'backs. The overall content of this article is < 50% Sox, and the primary focus is on the Cubs.

Surprisingly, the "Cubs notes" don't say anything about the Sox.
