View Full Version : Bronson Arroyo Power Surge

Arroyo just homered for the 2nd time this season versus the Cubs. This blast ended up on Waveland. Quite a feat for a 150 pound pitcher, especially considering newly expanded bleachers.

Arroyo's going to outhomer Pena this year at this pace. :o:

Both off glendon rusch too

Heh, he needs to get shelled or hurt real soon so he doesnt have to bat again to keep his average

I just saw this on gamecast and I was wondering if it was another 400 ft. blast (as his first was). It appears that Bronson Arroyo owns Glendon Rusch (much like everyone else should).

Or Konerko, for that matter...

Can he play outfield?

(edited to fix the teal.)

Arroyo is strong than people think. I remember when David Ortiz commented on how he could hit them out at Fenway when he took BP every blue moon.

I just saw this on MLB.com. I recall hearing that the only other homer he ever hit was in high school. Now he has 2 in his MLB career. Both against the Cubs, within the span of a week. Both of Glendon "Spahn".

The wind is blowing out of Wrigley at over twenty miles an hour.

The first six batters Rusch faced today either a) hit the ball out of the park or b) hit the ball to the warning track. He might as well just set up a tee at home plate whenener its time to go on the field.

He just helped out his cause by getting a two out double.

Averaging a HR/start, yes, he may beat out Bonds for the batting title. Teal may not be necessary, if Barry's knee remains in poor condition and pitchers start throwing away from him.

Arroyo is 2 for 2 with 1 walk on the season. 1.000 BA, 4.000 SlG and 5.000 OPS. Awesome.

The shot Arroyo hit would have been gone with the wind blowing in 20 mph. No teal. It was a no-doubter.

The one that Dunn just hit though, definitely a wind-shot.

The box score of this game could be hilarious if it keeps up... A solo homer an inning for the Reds...

Last time a team scored each inning was 5/5/1999 - Colorado at, well, Chicago.

Won't be today...

Nope. Record for team HR in a game (according to baseballalmanac.com) is 10 by Toronto vs. Baltimore in 1987. They didn't score in the first inning.

This is teal.

To make it really easy, just put COLOR="Teal" in brackets [] on the left and /COLOR in brackets on the right.

Got it. Although I think my eyes are going... it doesn't look a lot different than black.

But - that looked like an Encarnacion grand slam. At least Rusch was only giving up solo homers.

Better hold off on printing those WS tickets. 9-0 Reds, after a grand slam by Encarnacion, and then a solo shot by Kearns. (Don't worry though, the Cubs have Juan Pierre. Did you know that ?)

Is anyone watching the game on T.V. ? Just wondering if the Urinal is emptying out, as all of the "World's Greatest, Most Die-Hard Fans" head on over to the bars, now that it's 9-0 going into the top of the 7th. I'm sure on the radio, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle Dumbest will lie and tell everyone that "no one has left. These fans are just great".

[Other Cub Fan] I don't know. What's the score ? They're losing 9-0 !!?? Oh. Hmmm, I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I think he's up in the next inning though.

Have this game on mute with other games on MLB audio while cruising the net.

Just saw a Flubs ad for a Babe Ruth jersey giveaway at the park. Wonder if Hangar saw this, funny in so many ways.

I'm doing homework but have the game on in the background. There's still quite a crowd in the park, but they just had Sant-Oh-No sing, so now the park should clear out.

I usually don't wish injury on a player or laugh when a player is injured... but this is funny... the blue douches win 3 games and all the sheep where I work are proclaiming "We're going all the way!!!" and then today happens to put them right back where they belong. Beautiful.

Not too early to applaud Cubs' start (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-060410downey,1,7581728.column?coll=cs-home-utility)

And if you think this is meaningless, that there are a whopping 157 games left beginning with Tuesday's at home against Cincinnati so who cares about an April sweep of St. Louis, well, don't be too sure.

Good call Downey, ya douche. :D:

BTW, Arroyo is on something - but it's not steroids...

I just got back.....took a late lunch and caught a couple innings.
YES, there are a BUNCH OF EMPTY SEATS hopefully
someone can listen and see if Pat and Ron start pandering again and say that "look at these great fans, nobody has left".

The best part .....was during the 7th stretch, marble-mouthed Oaf Santo is singing it, and the camera pans the bleachers, and stays affixed to a few lovelies in the stands. They look pretty loaded, and they are waving their beers around, when suddenly, the Cubby Bimbette loses her balance and falls and spills her $6 Budweiser all over herself. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on camera, for the world to see just who goes to these games.
later that same inning, the camera is panning looking for more cub honeys,
and nearly all of them are on their cellphones talking. hilarious.

Then again, Arroyo might not face Rusch again this season...

How embarrassing for the Cubs to give up two home runs in one week to the same pitcher.
