In the Walter E. Smithe commercials last week about the April Fools Wrigley Field name change, a graphic about Dutchie Caray indicated that she is the "First Lady of Chicago Baseball." Do you believe the widow of Harry Caray is that? Or do you think someone else deserves to have that title? A case could be made for Dutchie, but I can think of at least two other candidates: Nancy Faust and Mary Frances Veeck.

EDIT: Can a mod correct Nancy Faust's spelling on the ballot, please? My stupid keyboard!!! Thanks!

Nancy is the best! I wish they would have honored her with a ring on field. I know she still should have got one. But it would have been nice to see.

I am sure she got a ring. It would be an outrage throughout White Sox Nation if she didn't.

I voted for Mrs. Veeck because I've met her several times and she really knows her baseball, is very passionate about baseball and she's from the Royal House of Veeck.

Mrs. Brickhouse deserves to be on the poll. I've also met and had drinks with her and she's one classy lady. She told me that Jack was primarily a Sox fan his entire life.

I had the honor of knowing Mary Francis when her husband owned Suffolk Downs.

She still keeps one of Bill's traditions alive by keeping her phone number published. Her son told me she loves talking to people about Bill who call her out of the blue.

:kneeslap:

I voted 'Other' - because the First Lady of Chicago Baseball is clearly Nancy Faust, whilst the Poll only offers 'Nancy Fause'.

I know, I'm a joyless pedant, aren't I?

I asked the mods to fix the ballot. Pat Brickhouse is a good candidate too; I should have put her in.

In her email to me yesterday, Nancy said she and other employees got their rings at a separate ceremony. Her exact description of it was, "Its gorgeous and im feeling very fortunate."

I should have voted for the girl in the knit hat in the Tribune copyrighted photo who was crying her eyes out at Game 7 of the '03 NLCS.

Actually Nancy got my vote. M.F. Veeck is a close second choice.

Reinsdorf's wife!
She has designed 7 Chicago Championship rings. Is there ANYONE else who could make that claim?
