Im sad to annouce but I could not wait any longer I left at 10 pm, I was a little drunk, and even falling a sleep at my seat, There was no way my wife was gonna carry me all the way from 507 to my car. So Im sorry to inform you all that I left against my own will. No more :gulp: for me. Dont like waking naked in the washroom floor , I even told the wife why did she not dress me and throw me a blanket and pillow....

What was your story?

I got :gulp:at a bar down here in Peoria but we left around 10 PM, too. Thought the game was going to be called for sure, but I watched the rest of it in my apartment and then inexpicably stayed awake until 3 AM. It's OK, I had the day off work, anyway.

I was watching the game at a bar, so we shot darts. Then, we got tired of waiting around (and watching the press conference from that women's NCAA game) so I went home, watched the Simpsons, came on WSI to chat, and then watched the game again.

And I saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico...

Looked for tornadoes, ate dinner, dozed off, woke up, watched the news, "Everybody Loves Raymond" then part of the rest of the game. When it was 9-3 I figured we were OK and called it a night.

Damn, it's hell getting old...

Stood in the last row of the upper deck, drank beer and got wet. We met a couple of friends in the lower bowl and watched the rest of the game until the end.

Hunkered down and pulled the closure on my poncho really tight, leaving enough room to see if a tornado touched down in center field. You do what you have to do to keep your seat dry...

Since we were parked at IIT, and not want to walk the half mile in that massive storm, we waited it out. Mondays is my day off, so I wasn't in a hurry. My brother had to work, but wasn't in a huge hurry to leave. I just met up with some friends who where there as well, talked to them, and headed back around 10:40. We sat in our seats for a while as we were the last row in the upper deck. This was until the wind changed directions and blew right on us. We stayed until midnight, and then headed out. If my brother didn't had to work, we would've stuck it out.

Stood around on the ramp smoking, talking and making fun of the tiny little and ignored areas they designated for smoking areas - grabbed a steak sammich after watching my brother eat a piece of pizza - went home and watched the end of the game on TV.

Sat in my seat in my rain poncho until about 9:40 and then went to the car, drove home, took a shower, and turned on the Cleveland broadcast on Gameday Audio while checking out the message boards here. I listened until we took a 9-3 lead and went to bed so I could get up at 4:30 to go to work.

I waited it out on the ramps. used the bathroom, then went back to our seats in the bullpen sports bar, and watched them resume.

Hung out in front of the Steak Pita stand behind Section 148 with Chisoxgirl, Chisoxfanatic, Chisoxmike, Soxstarter, Chips, The Dude, Robiwho, and two "civilians" (Natalie and Lucy).

We then "found" new seats right behind the Sox dugout for the remainder of the game.

This explains why WSI was so quiet during the rain delay.:D:

I had two of those steak pitas myself (and a churro) during the delay but we got so soaked we had to leave after about an hour and a half of waiting. The worst part is that I assumed the game would be called and woke up this morning to realize that they had won. I was so mad at myself but oh well.

I was flying into Midway on the way back from my Atlanta Sox trip right around the 3rd inning, we had to circle around the airport a few times before we were cleared to land, got to see a great view of the Cell each time we circled around  . After that i sped home 80 blocks down Cicero, waited out the delay and watched the rest of the game in the old man's basement bar :gulp: . It's great having Mondays off.

Those were AWESOME seats! We all "upgraded" to Section 139, 5 rows up from behind the dugout (except for Chips and The Dude who decided to create havoc in the Bullpen Sports Bar, and ChiSoxGirl called them a few times)! It was great seeing Lucy once again...hadn't seen her in a long time! And, it was nice that Cyndi was able to get downstairs!

Some of us yelled out to AJ Pierzynski, and he looked at us! We all got a great view of Thome's home run as well, and the 7,000 or so of us who stuck it out made more noise than I had expected.

After the rain delay, it felt like a mid-April game against Kansas City back in 2002! But, no, it was opening night!

We waited it out on the East ramp, in the AWESOME new smoking section! Had a great view of the storm. I swear that some of those lightning bolts struck the light towers or something. The thunder was so incredibly loud at periods that it seemed it was right over head!!

I was honestly waiting for a tornado to come through, for those of you not there or from out of the area, it was really THAT bad!

The best thing about the rain delay though is that they had the beer guys walking up and down the ramps. I was able to purchase 5 beers, on 2 seperate occasions from the beer guys on the ramp.

I have been going to Sox games for forever and have NEVER seen beer guys walking up and down the ramps! It was pretty neat!

You mean the shuttle run/slide/drunken falling over guys? Or the catfight in the women's bathroom out there? I was there for both... and yeah, quite interesting, and it was probably a good thing that 10pm or so was the cutoff for beer.

I was in the men's washroom in RF for about an hour (not there there's anything wrong with that). A somewhat uniique perspective while trying to get a radio update on weather. Then I was over by the Steak Pita area, missed the Dump Jerry group. My cousin and I saw a fight break out between 2 women and then their boyfirends/husbands joined in. Normally, I would have gawked like most of the group that circled around them, but I tried to help break it up at the end. Later when the delay ended, back at our seats by the RF bullpen, Victor Martinez was playing long toss. Some guy probably in his late 20's with a beer in his hand and a bit drunk, just started foulmouthing Martinez. It was really weird. No one else heard him and so he wasn't trying to impress anyone and no one was with him. Martinez pointed him out to security and he was taken out. I know some people used the rain delay as a chance to get tanked. Well now that we're fans of the World Champions, I hope fellow fans help police these morons. The spotlight is on us and I think there's added responsibility. Grab an usher or security, don't ignore these mental midgets.

Btw, I stayed for the last out and then took thge El back up North and got off at Howard after 2 a.m. Think I was happy I took off this week from work?! Also, really nice timming because Comcast is running a free week of MLB Extra Innings, so all the games are free on Digital Cable!

My buddy and I sat in our seats till it got too bad and then hung out on the concourse in front of Nancy's door. I'll tell you what that was one of the worst rain storms I have seen in a while. I was like there is no way they are getting this game in, but we waited it out and it was well worth it to see Thome jack that bomb.

We were parked at the Curency exchange on Pershing, so theirs no way we were gonna walk the the car in the rain. So we waited their on the 500 concourse. we went into the Majestic jersey shop, nice and warm, was their at least 45 minutes, and then were kicked out for sitting on the floor in the corner. we went and stood on the concourse more, then went back to our seats under the new roof that werent be rained on. Sat their, watched the end of Sox pride(anyone else find it funny the delay finally ended right after the movie ended) and then the game finally started. My dad made me leave in the top of the 8th. I wanted to stay. I got home at 2 am, got 5 hrs of sleep and woke up for school at 7:20

what an experience, it was worth it though:D:

Sat in our seats until the wind turned and we started getting wet. Then we went down to the concourse and ran into my uncle and a few other people I know. Talked to them until they had to leave. Then sat around on the concourse, some lady came up and took our pictures in front of Shoeless Joe, because we were standing in front of her favorite player (her camera, not mine). Took our seats when the rain died down, watched the end of Sox Pride, and then watched the game.

We were right nearby, but I didn't see any familiar faces. My son and I watched highlights on a TV in the UD for a while, then went out to find a seat behind the plate that was under the roof. We sat there for a while until they started making ready to restart, so we decided to try for an "upgrade" I thought that since maybe 75% of the crowd had gone home, they might be lenient about letting 500 level ticket holders into the 100 level, but they were NOT. Just then, two kind souls who were leaving gave us their ticket stubs, so the ushers then let us in. [ Kinda odd-they knew we didn't have 100 level tickets, but now that we had somebody's 100 level tickets in our hot little hands...come on in! ]
We upgraded ourself right behind the plate, not quite in scout seats but not too far away either. We were close enough to see Peter Gammons wandering around on and off the field behind the plate.
We did get to see the Thome blast, but ultimately, we left at the end of six, (about 12:15AM or so) as my son had school on Monday.:whiner:

And to think I predicted being on my way home at 8:45PM with the Buehrle start... :(:

My girlfriend had a flight at 6am on Monday so she had to leave, but I wasn't going anywhere- even though I had to work on Monday. It was opening day as defending champs! Plus, I figured it would be a good story to tell.
I watched the dvds on the jumbotron and daydreamed during the delay. Thankfully the Sox made it worthwhile to stick around.

I went on facebook.

The first step is admitting that you have a problem.

As for me, I was in right field, so it took me about 30 minutes just to get under the damn concourse, getting fairly well soaked in the process (though I did find a Notre Dame poncho on ground, which I put to good use. After waiting on the ramp for about 20/30 more minutes, my parents told me that they wanted to go. Although I make it a habit NEVER to leave games early, especially not opening night, they both had work tomorrow and had to get up even earlier to drive me to the bus to go back to Wisconsin and had bought me the tickets in the first place, so I reluctantly relented. After getting totally soaked on the long way back to IIT frats on Michigan, where we parked and a cold drive home, I was bummed to learn that they didn't call the game, I had secretly hoped they would play it Monday, allowing me to still catch the rest. I at least watched the rest on tv before getting four hours sleep and getting on a bus.

Ha; saw both of those morons! That dude had his pants down for like 5 mins, waiting for security to kick him out Im guessing. Then 2 non-security cell workers walk by and just burst out laughing. And I though I was drunk.

Left at 10:30. Ended up a Fireplace Inn cursing at the TV because i though i was going back for the make up Opener the following day. The Thome bomb made up for that.

I was at one of the seating/eating areas, plugging my video camera into one of the TV power jacks to charge it up. If you saw a guy in a black Guillen jersey or a black Sox fleece charging his camera, that was me :D: .

We had a couple of beers and an italian beef, then we went to the jersey shop to see if there was anything to get!
I kept talking to the security guys and listening to the radio broadcast on my headphones. They kept saying that the game was coming back on around 10:30, so we stayed. I paid over 250 bucks for my tickets...my rear end was staying at that park!!!! When they started taking off the tarp, we were pumped!

Stayed in the upper deck concourse area for a couple of hours then went downstairs to the lower section for the last hour. I sat inside, ate a Polish, and walked around photographing parts of the park from different areas of the 300 level. I'm adept at own-fun-making. If anyone sitting up on the club level concourse saw someone pacing around in a Sox jacket and blue jeans with a black SLR camera, that was probably me.
