I really don't know what to expect in 2006, but as of April 1 I have only one lock to return to the playoffs and that is the White Sox. I think the Indians are weaker, the Twins have simply made a lot of bizarre moves. The team to watch maybe Detroit. Every year there is a team that surprises and I think they could be it.

The AL East? Boston is going to win a lot of games, the Yankees are going to win a lot of games and Toronto might as well. But if Foulke and Schilling are healthy and can pitch like 2004 and the signs in camp are all good Boston should be fine. The Yankees may score 1000 runs, but they may give up 800 too. Torre has no idea who is going to pitch game 3 in Oakland and The Unit and Moose are getting older. If they falter out of the gate you can be certain Steinbrenner will be calling Clemens. We haven't seen the last of him.

The AL West? It is Anaheim's to lose but Oakland could have the second best rotation in the AL after Chicago.

NL? East Can the Mets finally overtake Atlanta? Maybe but I'm not going to pick against the Braves.

West The Dodgers have become Red Sox west with Grady, Nomar, Lowe and even the owner. They could be the biggest surprise in MLB. I expect the Giants will have a brutal season with the cloud hanging over Bonds.

Wild Cards
AL This is where the unbalanced schedule comes in. IF Toronto can hold there own against Boston and New York, the win total in the East may fall to the low 90's and that opens up the wild card. Right now I would make the A's a slight favorite.

Here are your playoff teams:

Yankees, White Sox, A's and Angels.
Mets, Cardinals, Dodgers and Braves.

As far as the post season it all depends on who is the healthiest going into them.

:o:

I could see an argument for the Indians. But the Twins?

Say it ain't so, Jjav. Say it ain't so. :(:

As for my own picks:

AL East--Yankees
AL Central--White Sox
AL West--A's
Wild Card--Indians

NL East--Phillies
NL Central--Cardinals
NL West--Giants
Wild Card--Mets

AL Champion--White Sox
NL Champion--Cardinals

World Series Champions--White Sox

I was in a hurry, so I didn't make all the other picks. I figured I'd at least give you a chance to pick on me after I called you out.

Look up my picks from last year. What can I say, I'm superstitious. I always used to pick the Sox to win the division and they never won it. Last year I decided not to pick the Sox and see what would happen. I kinda liked the results, so why change? :bandance:
