Didn't see this posted anywhere yet, but thought it was of interest. The Chicago Tribune has an editorial (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-0603270184mar27,1,326349.story?coll=chi-opinionfront-hed) today about Bobby Bonds, not an op-ed piece, but the opinion of the paper itself, saying, "The commissioner should do what his predecessor A. Bartlett Giamatti did when presented with evidence that Pete Rose gambled on baseball: appoint an outside counsel to investigate."

Nowhere is it mentioned that another player that has drawn scrutiny for similar "behavior that compromises his sport's fundamental integrity" was on the Tribune Company's payroll for many years.

Phil Arvia in his column Sunday in the Southtown however advocates a complete examination. Of course Selig won't do anything so Phil's idea is a 'pipedream.'
