Carol Sleazak CubFluff pieces aside, the SOX are not able to make up any ground today. Seems to be a pretty slow newsday today ..........

Despite winning the World Series in 2005, winning their first title in 88 years,
being only the 5th team to lead from Opening Day to the WS, and having had Four 90Win seasons since 1990, the SOX inexplicably find themselves losing (as per usual in Chicago) in media stories to a team that finished in 4th Place in 2005, 20 games out of first, and have had ZERO 90 win seasons since 1990 (no, 1998 doesnt count)
Make no mistake. They are a losing franchise ................ yet get all the attention, despite having won NOTHING.

How come 1998 doesn't count?

Because they didn't do it in 162 games. They had 89 wins and were tied with the Giants for the Wild Card. These 2 teams had to play a 163rd regular season game for the tie-breaker. That was their 90th win, in their 163rd game. What a magical season that was. I don't know if anything in Chicago since then can compare.
