The pitching-rich Cubs will be the surprise winner of the National League, Yahoo! When did Gwynn fall down and receive the massive head trauma that makes his view of reality distorted?

Well, anyone who has seen Gwynn lately has noticed he put on roughly 350 lbs since his retirement. I guess he had a mad case of the munchies.

Wow, I was such of fan of Gwynn growing up. One of my favorites behind Big Frank. It is sad to see him lose his mind.

"Pitching-rich"? Are we talking about the same Cubs here?
Well, I guess when Carrie and Prior are healty they could...oh wait, that'll never happen.

Pitching rich? Far from it. They will be lucky to finish third in that division.

Don't they also have a pitching machine?

Pitching rich? Far from it. They will be lucky to finish third in that division.Baseball America has them for fourth. They called them "dysfunctional". :rolling:

Dusty doesn't understand it (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060324cubsbits,1,3757694.story?coll=cs-home-headlines).

It's hard to take a guy seriously who, as his analysis continued, began to sound more and more like Bill Cosby.

Then again, it's hard to take a guy seriously who actually believes that Carrie and Prior will avoid the DL, Lee will have another monster season, Jacque Jones will have a career year, etc. etc.

Let the sheep believe what they will.

I just saw this and came here to post a thread about it, too late  . Tony Gwynn has lost his mind. Pitching Rich?!?!? They have 3 solid starters, 2 of which are currently injured or are extremely injury prone. That leaves Zambrano... what is he going to pitch 2 days a week? It's sad to see every single year some baseball "expert" will pick the Cubs to go all the way no matter what is on the field, amazing.

Same here. I thought he had more common sense than this.

Well to me it looks like the 'pitching rich' Cubs are going to win the 'simulated' National League.

That's about all they are going to win.

The Cubs no-hit Oakland through 9 today.

They are now surely a lock for the title.

Gwynn is dead-on correct. The Cubs will lead the league by a huge margin in simulated games. As we all know, it ain't real unless it is simulated!

Don't forget they are also undefeated in towel games. (hard to hit and don't travel very far)

Dusty doesn't understand it (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060324cubsbits,1,3757694.story?coll=cs-home-headlines).

"Dysfunctional in which department?" manager Dusty Baker asked. "Dysfunctional in the field? Upstairs? Totally dysfunctional?"

Even in a meaningless exhibition game, starting pitcher Carlos Zambranohad a difficult time curbing his emotions. Zambrano was waving his arms and kicking the dirt Friday night after second baseman Jerry Hairstonfailed to make a play in the fifth inning, allowing a run to score.

Zambrano gave up four runs in six innings, three of them in his final two innings.

my emphasis:tongue:
