Let the Soriano to Cubs tampering rumors begin. A few weeks ago, I predicted the Chicago Media would be swooning and trying to get him here. I do remember being laughed at also, heh heh.

Mike Kiley does a little more TAMPERING on behalf of the Cubs today as he writes how the Cubs CANT get Soriano, yet somehow continues to mull trade possibilities if they could (what kind of nonsensical story is this? Kiley of course)
Nats GM Bowden said he would seek to have Soriano suspended w/o pay rather than just "give him away" in a comment CLEARLY pointed towards Jim Hendry, who has gotten rather good at taking advantage of the weak-sister franchises in a commissioner-less MLB.

Despite winning the World Series in 2005, the White SOX are struggling to maintain even coverage with the rival Cubs, who finish in 3rd and 4th place on a regular basis. In March of 2003, the hapless Cubs coming off a 90 loss season somehow and inexplicably led the SOX by 62 extra stories !

Chicago Tribune:
3 cub stories
2 sox stories
Chicago SunTimes:
2 cub stories
2 sox stories

Standings as of Weds March 22nd, 2006
Media-Owned, 4th place in 2005...... Cubs 101
Media Ignored, WS Champs in 2005 ...SOX 104

In todays Trib, Phil Rogers does almost the same thing. A long article on how the Cubs should "get" Soriano, since, of course, the Nationals are just going to release him. He forgets to mention that IF he doesn't play for them this year, they may put him on a disqualified list, kinda like Terrell Owens. Then, he still belongs to them, and isn't allowed to play for anyone else. Dave Van Dyke also has a meek little blurb in the middle of the Rogers article about how the Cubs can't get Soriano. But, yeah, the overall theme today is pretty much CAN, SHOULD, WOULD, HOW THE CUBS CAN GET SORIANO !!!!!!

Its the same as the Tejada talk. It won't happen but they'll continue to hype it.

Tribune: "Lets see, talk about guys we won't get, or losing? Thats an easy one!"

Well Soriano's such a team player, he'd make a great fit for the Northsiders!

Very dissapointing. Now Mulligan & Hanley are running with this story on the Score too. Should the Cubs get him ? Could they ? Would they ? I should know better, but I expected a little better from Mike Mulligan. I turn the radio off from 12-2 when Moron Murph is on, but today, I have to be extra sure to remind myself to do so. He's going to be slobbering and pissing all over himself talking about a Soriano-Cub connection on his 2 hour vomit-fest today. Stupid Chicago media.

The Trib will have a section on Wrigleyville this weekend similar to the one about Comiskey last week. As if Wrigelyville needs the hype. Must still be enough clueless people moving to the area from Cedar Rapids into an overpriced condo for the paper to do this. If you have birds or dead fish in your house, here is an upcoming opportunity.

I still say that :

Weak starters, weak rotation, fair bullpen, and fair bench has more to talk about than dominant rotation, solid starters, good bench, and good bullpen.

Almost tied Hangar. What is Hangar going to do if they take the lead? I say we have a poll with the possibilities listed.

I find it hilarious that they mention that Todd Walker could be inlcuded in a trade for Soriano. Didn't the whole fiasco start because the Nats already have a secondbaseman? What the hell would they need another one for?

I LOL when I read this comment:

Walker has been used as a second baseman, first baseman and DH this spring and has played outfield in the past.

Uh... DH is only for AL teams and Walker has played a grand total of 2 innings in the outfield his entire career!

:roflmao:

Anyone notice the article on Carrie Wood? While talking about how exciting it is they that he threw 45 pitches...the picture shows him throwing underhanded. :D:

Gotta love the Cubune propaganda machine: White Sox pull out section cover (two year old photo of two sox fans standing in front of a dark/smokey Cell scoreboard). Cubbie pull out section: an innocent little child cub fan standing in front of the pastoral, sunny, Wrigley Field.

Anyone notice that Mark Gonzalez, the White Sox writer, looks like a stand-in for Dodge Ball?
