I guess in the words of Dave Wannestadt "all the pieces are in place." :) You know its better when the Cubs get praise in the offseason...makes the inevitable crash and burn all that much sweeter

Hey Lewis is a 4th OF, as long as you dont expect him to start 162 games or even more than 10 than hes ok...besides since the flubs lost Buford they have been short a crappy hitting OF that cubs fans can overrate

He's useless, but just insurance for Alou. They are starting to remind me of the Charlestown Chiefs. Reggie Dunlop "Boy, every piece of garbage that comes along, you gotta sign it"

"He can play any of the [outfield] spots, give Corey [Patterson] a blow when he needs it..." - According to Jim Hendry.

That will make Lewis popular in the Northside clubhouse.

actually, Lewis is the 5th outfielder behind Rosey Brown, it's not a bad move for 500K.

There is no substitute for talent, regardless of the price. I admit it wouldn't be a good move to sign me at even $50K.

Lewis at $500K, Baines, at $1M, Clayton at $4M. They all cost you roster spots--and wins.

Lewis has no bat, but he is a rather good defensive player...and cost does factor in..he costs next to nothing(relatively) and I dont think the Cubs are sold on Brown for whatever the reason...If they think Lewis can start they are nuts, but they dont..so whats the problem...if Royce was signed for 500 K and to be insurance and a backup infielder I'd be overjoyed(especially if he wasnt a constant complainer too)....
