Today at least we dont get the Pierre-speediest-Chicago-outfielder-ever story. Come to think of it, its been a couple days since we got the Pie-is-5-tool-player. Things are looking up for the SOX. Sort of. The Cubs have managed to quietly come back and are almost in a virtual tie with us.
Unbelievable considering in 03, the 90-loss Cubs led us by 60something stories at this time of year, and a 3rd placce Cub team led us by 20something stories. The SOX won the World Series in 05 and were still not seeing the landslide coverage we were led to believe would come if we won anything.

Oh, we got a Walker-loves-the-Cubs story. What a schmuck.
Chicago Tribune:
2 cub stories
1 sox story
Chicago SunTimes:
3 cub stories
2 sox stories

Standings as of Monday March 20th, 2006
Priviledged, Media-Favored, 4th place in 2005 ............ Cubs 93
Maligned, Media-Ignored, World Series Champs in 2005.. SOX 95

But Hangar, doesn't the Tribune deserve bonus points for having that Sunday insert on USCF?

With the job they did on that insert I would actually start subtracting points.

the only cool thing about that insert, was the cover photo. (cool picture)
The Trib is trying to INTRODUCE everyone to the ballpark. Thats fine, but shouldve been done 10 years ago.

It took a World Series victory to promote something any other home paper would do year to year!

Anyone notice how after the White Sox thumping of the Cubs on Saturday...the next day in the Trib...two color photos of the Cubs celebrating their HR and Juan Pierre running. The one photo of the White Sox...Crede's HR? Vazquez' solid start? Any of the great performances of the bullpen?...nope...just Thome on the ground after brushback pitch.

Then in today's paper...big story on "Garcia's velocity"..when did it become a big story for a pitcher to have an off day velocity wise duing the middle of spring training and a rainy day? Oh yeah...when the team the paper owns has Rusch as their #2 starter and Jerome Williams as #4.
