ALL ABOARD: The Sox agreed to terms on one-year deals with 16 players, including Jenks, fellow pitchers Neal Cotts and Brandon McCarthy, outfielders Brian Anderson and Joe Borchard and first baseman Ross Gload.

Joe Borchard, huh? Wow, that kind of surprises me. I like Joe, but they've been plenty patient with him with few results. I hope it pay off.

I like Borchard too, at least for his tools. Anyone who hits a ball 500+ feet has to break through some time, right?

Remember, the White Sox tossed the money at him, and he didn't act like a jerk in negotiations like Bobby Seay or Jeff Weaver after he was drafted.

While I ultimately think he may wind up as the next Jeff Liefer, I sure hope not. More painful would be him going to KC or Minnesota and hitting 35HR's a season.

And as far as Jenks contract, I doubt it is guaranteed, he does not have enough service time. What it probably does have, like the other players they signed too, is a minor league salary clause. I don't think these contracts are guaranteed until they make the Opening day roster.

1 year, $330,000...

That's what I'd guess. He's a 'year one' player, subject to the team's whim. Minimum is all he gets. But a 'guaranteed' contract is nice. They can option him, and he still get's paid. THAT is the baseball players dream.
