The SOX have a flurry of extra stories today ....all negative of course.
In fact, 3 of the 5 Tass stories today are Negative, while 3 of the 6 Pravda stories are negative in tone. 6 of the 11 stories the SOX garnered today are Negative in tone. Nice.

Tribune (Tass):
3 cub stories
5 sox stories

Sun-Times (Pravda):
2 cub stories
6 sox stories

Standings as of Tues 2/28/06

Priviledged Cubs 16
Underdog Sox 21

I'd be interested to see a season breakdown of Cubs positive/Cubs negative/Sox positive/Sox negative.

I'd like to see a breakdown of how many of Hangar's posts are cub related or based.

Not enough server space for such a search.:D:

If you search "Hangar AND cubs," you will actually melt a hole in the space-time continuum.

Ah yes Hangar's back and the world is out to screw the World Champion White Sox!

I do love reading Hangar's media watch. A breakdown of positive/negative stories would be a nice addition this year.

What makes a story "positive" and what makes it "negative"?

Well, I, for one, am willing to trust Hangar's objective view on whether a story is positive or negative.

Clearly, Hangar -- like all of us at WSI -- have no biases of our own. :D:

As would a breakdown of column inches or even word counts rather than just total number of stories . . .

Hell, I'd like to see Hangar explain what's the difference between a "positive" story and a "fluff" story.

What's the score dude?

It would be pretty interesting to see a season comparison of number of stories on either team. Especially from this year to last year. I would definately like to see a comparison of pos. to neg. but there's definately gonna be those stories that sit on the fence.

Again I ask, what makes a story "postive" and what makes a story "negative" -- and who besides Hangar gets to decide?

If the Sox win but play badly, and the writer points out how badly the Sox played, is that negative? Or is it positive because they report that the Sox still won despite playing so badly? Or is just reporting what they saw?

Hanger, if it makes you feel better I'm a cub paranoid myself. In fact, most of my conversations with my dad, are spent ripping the cubs instead of talking about the beloved Sox. I can't get past the ridiculous infatuation the media and so many idiot fans have for the lovable losers. I just resent the fact they're considered a real team, let alone some so-called contender. They're a novelty act with a huge following, and that's it. Just remember, when the Sox drew 2 million fans in 1984, it was the first time ANY Chicago team drew 2 million fans back to back. That is not ancient history, and that is a fact.

If they're negative, wouldn't you want to SUBTRACT from the total?

We won the World Series, Henry! Be happy with that!
