Barry Bonds told USA Today on Sunday that he will retire after the 2006 season with or without breaking Hank Aaron's all-time home run record, which he is 47 home runs away from tying.

"I'm not playing baseball anymore after this," Bonds told USA Today in a telephone interview. "The game [isn't] fun anymore. I'm tired of all of the crap going on. I want to play this year out, hopefully win, and once the season is over, go home and be with my family. Maybe then everybody can just forget about me."

Didn't we hear this last year? Bonds' head is too big, literally and figuratively, to leave the game if he is within 20-25 home runs of breaking Aaron's record after this upcoming season. This guy will be around until that record is his. Sad thing is, it may take him 4 years to get those 40+ home runs.

Probably the man in history to have a thousand retirement parties and not be invited to a single one.

Steroids had nothing to do with this.

Don't worry Barry, I've already forgotten about your pompous ass.

Your ego is far too big to retire without breaking the all-time homerun record.

You'll be back in '07 if you don't break the record this season, I ga-ron-tee.

Yeah, somehow I think that if all the steroids stuff never happened, Bonds wouldn't be retiring after this year and Sosa sure as hell wouldn't be retiring.

Bonds doesn't want to break Aaron's record. He just wants to pass Ruth who he hates for whatever idiotic reasons he has in that steroid enhanced head of his.

I don't want to get this Roadhoused or anything, but I thought there was a quote that Bonds said he hates Ruth because he was white.

Here's hoping that he fails to make it to 714.

Ron Kittle said in his book that Bonds "Doesn't sign for white people."
