For those of us who do not have the mag, or access to the online article, can you summarize what was written?

Basically rips A-rod, excerpt:
"Another spring, another member of the Sox taking shots at Alex Rodriguez. This time, however, it isn't the Boston Red Sox; it's Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen.

Guillen, in an interview with Sports Illustrated, targeted A-Rod's much-publicized back and forth standing whether to play in the World Baseball Classic for the Dominican Republic or United States.

"Alex was kissing Latino people's as*es," Guillen, who's from Venezuela, said in the most recent issue of Sports Illustrated. "He knew he wasn't going to play for the Dominicans; he's not a Dominican!"

Rodriguez, who has dual citizenship in the Dominican Republic and United States, decided to play for the American squad after once saying he wasn't going to play in the WBC because choosing a team was too difficult. Guillen apparently found his wishy-washy attitude to be disingenuous.

"I hate hypocrites: He's full of [expletive]," Guillen told Sports Illustrated. "The Dominican team doesn't need his a*s. It's the same with [Nomar] Garciaparra playing for Mexico. Garciaparra only knows Cancun because he went to visit.""

Ozzie has a valid point, I bet a lot of people from the Dominican and Mexico teams wanted to say that and Ozzie is just letting it out. Who doesn't love Ozzie?

I love Ozzie, but he needs to stop dropping bombs constantly. I hope his star doesn't burn out really quick. He is on top of the world right now, but it doesn't take much for the world to knock you back down on your arse either. The main story overall should be the team on the field, not Ozzie's constant feuds. They entertained me for a while, but they are starting to wear on me now. Talk about new guys like Jim Thome, Mackowiak- screw A. Rod. Who cares?

Bah, I don't mind. Ozzie is a grown man. Let him do and say what he wants. It's not effecting me.

I received my issue with the snow boarder, but not the swimsuit one yet(not too happy about that). The article on Ozzie focuses more on his life in Venezuela. He rips Arod pretty good as was mentioned earlier. It also talks about him going to visit Uribina in jail and that while there he ran into the guy that murdered his best friend 10 years ago. It talks a lot about Ozzie's relationship with that friend, ex MLBer Gustavo Polidor. he was basically Ozzie's mentor and best friend. Ozzie said he'd have a spot on the Sox coaching staff if he was around today. Well written article that focuses more on Ozzie's off field life and relationships wiht friends and family.

Jim Rome said at the end of the Ozzie segment "Go White Sox".
I think it's cool to have someone who has guts enough to say what others
think. People all over the world will at least know who the Sox are.

Yeah, this whole running of the mouth thing scares me in the off-season, when there's no winning to back it up, know what I mean?

I just got it and just got done reading it. The article comes out to about 6 pages in length and talks about anything from his Venezuelan background, to his friends, to his family, and to most of all (to us) how he consulted Oney in the top of the 14th inning of game 3 of the World Series after he had already picked Ozuna to bat. Great article and shows Guillen's heart for everything and how truth has helped him through life.

I find it odd that so many people here seem to love ozzie but hate mike north. Aren't they essentially the same person?

I think this could come back to hurt Ozzie and the Sox, too. I know Ozzie prides himself on "speaking the truth" (as he himself has said over and over), but I get the feeling the press is manipulating him into making some of these statements. He needs to learn how to control the media, not be controlled by the media.

At some point all of Ozzie's comments and feuds may become a distraction for the team. Like Fake Chet Lemon, I'm getting a little tired of Ozzie's trash talking. Here's hoping he can back it up again this year :gulp:

Ozzie's comments affect one person only... Ozzie himself. In fact given the 'timing' of this latest news I wouldn't put it past him to have done it deliberately so the players can get to spring training and start working out in peace...free of all this 'repeat' talk and pressure.

Lip, I hope you're right and Ozzie's a lot shrewder than I give him credit for being. But Ozzie is putting a lot of stuff out there that potentially could be used against him in bad times. You know how people are when someone is down. I'm concerned that if (when) that time comes, all this could become a distraction for the team.

But as long as the Sox are winning...it's all good!
