I remember hearing the Sox will have another alternate jersey for 2006. Any updates?

I hear they're going to use the 1906 uniforms on quite a few days (Sundays I hear?)

I wouldn't necessarily consider it an "alternate jersey"... just something special, like the '59 unis they wore once last year...

Thanks. This would make sense since its the 100-year anniversary.

Heh, I just have a bad feeling about the team wearing early 20th century throwbacks again. I just have bad memories of that dreadful 2001 season in which they wore the 1917 unis on Sundays. Not only was the year a huge disappointment, but they always seemed to lose in them threads. :D:

the Vest. We saw them during our decisive winning streak last year.

The threads are underwhelming. Plain white jersey with a blue C over the heart. Hats are white with a dark bill and stripes (looks like an NFL official's hat). It's accurate, but underwhelming. It's fine. I guess. [*lapsing into passive-aggressive rambling*]

Yeah, but that's not a 'new' jersey.

I don't care for a 'C' at all. Reminds me of another local team and the late 80s Sox hat with the script 'C' (or 'E').

You can see what the 1906 uniforms look like here. (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/rwas/index.php?category=3&id=2104) I would have VASTLY preferred the Sox to go with the road uniforms -- they are distinct and the CHICAGO font is unmistakeably south side.

I would think more people would associate the 1906 roadies with the mid 70's version as they look pretty close.

That's what I mean: Veeck created the 1976 unies to be a throwback to the 1906 roadies, and those navy blue uniforms are distinctly south side, even though the 1906 versions don't say "SOX" anywhere on them.

I love those uniforms. I have a Minnie Minoso coaches jersey from '76 in mint condition. Love the old English letters.

I think we can all agree though that those threads were KILLER bro!

I have a Fisk navy blue jersey. Brooks: please bring these jerseys back! (Perhaps for the series at Wrigley?)

That font is not Chicago font. It was previously used for the Chicago Tribune's head although I understand the entire Trib was at one time printed in it.

The Jersey will be worn on every sunday home game and is already available to buy on the sox website. Pretty plain if you ask me, but it is authentic and might be cool with a number on the back of Paulie or Thome. Here is the link to the new sox 3rd alternate jersey for 2006 if you want to buy it.

Yikes ............ that is ugly. I will not be purchasing that.
YES, someone needs to let Brooks let us wear the 1977 uniforms (road)
a few times

When was the last time they wore the red jerseys from the early '70's? If we can break out the early '80s jerseys then why not the red ones? Why did they break out the winning ugly jerseys again? I know they celebrated the 20th anniversary a couple of years ago but why last year?

Last year, the Sox wore 1959 uniforms. The Sox last wore the winning ugly uniforms in 2003.

I'm not a fan of this jersey at all. Looks like a Cubs jersey.

Nope. The Cubs jerseys look like THIS jersey. The Sox were wearing the C 6 years before the Cubs did. Plus, now that the Sox are Chicago's team, we get the C.

Regardless of who first wore a jersey with a C on it, I would imaging if I wore this jersey, people would identify this as a Cubs jersey. I don't like it.

Educate them. Or just say, "The Cubs? Are they still around? I didn't even know they were still a team. Huh. Weird. No, these are the throwback uniforms to the 1906 World Champion Chicago WHITE SOX... who beat the Cubs 4 games to 2. I'm sure the Cubs will wear throwback two years from now to celebrate their last championship in 1908. How lovable."

While that's true, that's not the perception.

Good stuff. While this is a good way to do it, if its someone who I don't engage in a conversation with, I would much prefer that they don't think I'm wearing a Cubs jersey.

I just don't think there is enough distinction for me.
