Looks like a solid team, although I can't figure out why there only carrying four starting pitchers.

There's not that many games, and I think they're relatively spread out. No need for a lot of starters, I guess.

Maybe it's just me, but I think they could get away with just pitching Cheese-C Fatbathia every day.

Pitch count limits. Starters will be gone by the fifth inning at the start of the tournament. Plus RP might be more effective within the limits since they are more use to pitching lesser amount.

Also I would think it would take more time for a starter to build stamina to go seven then a RP to go a inning or two.

That's my point. They will probably need to piggy back guys at the start of the tourney.

Who needs starters with that bullpen.

Yes, then you have to ask the question, who would be better out of the pen, a reliever by trade or a starter?

Good...no Sox guys (at least on this nation's roster). Let the Cubs gets their spring training royally screwed up by missing two of their starters. (Now if we could only do something about getting Garcia and Vasquez off their team rosters...)

Griffey? Are you kidding me? I really don't think that's in anybody's interest to have him out there.

Two White Sox starters are on other national teams, Vazquez and Garcia, both could be eliminated fairly early (1st round) in which case they'd never throw more than 65 pitches.

The Champs will only play 8 games max over 18 days so I don't think there is any need for more than 4 starters.

If you sort the rosters by MLB club we have a lot less players in this thing than most teams do. Uribe, Vazquez, and Garcia are the only players of any consequence.

It was good when it happened then, but now let's hope that Lidge doesn't lose it AGAIN! :D:

Interesting. I'm curious to see what the other countries' rosters look like.

I could have sworn I read somewhere today or yesterday that Rowand said he turned down a spot on Team USA. If anyone else read this (I think it was from a White House recap article) can you throw up a link? I think Rowand would be at least as good as Winn or Franceor(who does have a tremendous upside, but not a star yet). I don't blame a-row for not going, he's a got a new team to adjust to.

I'm sure his hamstring will go before he even plays an inning.

That outfield is without question our weak spot. I think several teams will have a better hitting outfield than us.

Does anyone know if paulie was offered a spot?

Team USA has no chance.

The reason is Team Venezuela's vastly superior uniforms:

Story in the paper today says uribe probably isn't going to be on the Dominican roster.

GREAT NEWS!

Now the Sox only have to find a way to get Garcia and Vasquez out of this and they'll be golden.

Garcia and Vazquez will be fine. Most teams have a lot more people participating than us anyways. Look at Minnesota.
