This kind of reminds me of the Kevin Walker signing. Hopefully this guy is significantly better, although that's probably unlikely.

KW must know a good elbow guy (maybe Herm is)-first Thome, now this guy. I'm not feeling too good about carrying a 5+ ERA last year in Double A.

The only Rusty I want is this one:

There are still 47 of the 50 left, I believe.

Did KW just borrow the player generator from Madden and just start making guys up? Steve Randolph. Chad Bentz. Rusty Tucker. These people don't exist I tell you.

His career k/9 in the minors is pretty encouraging, actually it is pretty damn good (10.5 in 208 appearences). Not that this statistic is a proper measure of player potential, but I think our coaching has the ability to help Tucker put the pieces together. I also think our organization has been pretty good at turning around the careers of the talented, but downtrodden. Feel free to disagree, but I think this signing has the potential to pay divdends for us much like the Bobby Jenks move did.

As long as he's at least marginally better than Marte, it's a +++.

He was marginally better than Rusty Torres.

I like the pickup. As of right now we only have one reliable lefty in the pen, and he is our set-up guy! I would love to have another lefty competing at spring training and since the Sox claimed him off waivers, this won't really affect the '06 budget.

And since Coop has the magic touch, he really could turn this guy around. What's the worst that could happen?? He sucks? Oh well, then we go a different route. This is another good "under the radar" move by KW.

If anyone in this group becomies remotely close to the pitcher Marte was, I'll do a dance.

Rusty Tucker? Sounds like a pick up from the set of Vivid Video.

Are you referring to the Marte of "fond memory" or the one we saw too often the 2nd half of 2005?
