Was just watching one of the highlight clips the news made of the White Sox playoff run and just realized that Paulie caught the final out in all the clinching games.

Central Division Clincher versus Detroit
Division Playoffs versus Boston
AL Championship versus LA

A good first baseman will do that!

Yes but what are the odds of all the final outs being caught by him. No pop ups, flyballs, or strike outs:smile:

Poor pitching.

A first baseman typically makes about one-third of all put outs, sligthly more for good groundball teams. I don't find this surprising at all.

He fielded a grounder and stepped on first to end the ALCS. Watched the game on DVD last night. Almost as good as the first time I saw it.

To clinch the division line drive to paulie, and to end the alcs grounder to pk.

Stranger still, the season began with a 1-0 win over Cleveland that ended with Coco Crisp grounding out to first. I didn't see it, but I think Gload got an assist to Shingo for the putout.

The second half started with a 1-0 game as well. Flyout to center, though.

Even more odd, there were several games during the regular season that ended with Paulie catching the last out.

Wonder if JMR has those balls also?

Not only that, but none of those balls were hit too hard, although you could argue about the liner at Detroit.

Pitching and defense wins games -- what a concept!

Wow, that is kind of odd.
