I can't believe New York or Boston didn't pick him up considering the dreg they have at backup and the fact he could DH (well if Ortiz could take the field). I think the A's and Angels could have used him as well.
$2 mil is a steal. The man can still hit. He is poor behind the plate (especially throwing) but the Padres have a great deal here.

He should have gone to the AL, where he could be a DH.

I think that Piazza is done. No American League team was seriously linked to him but the Yankees, which is not a good sign.
