How do we greet Frank when he comes to Chicago?

Who is Frank?

I'd think we're going to have to treat him like a world champion

I certainly hope you're not insinuating that we boo him when he comes back.

Standing ovation (unless he's at home on inury rehab)

thomas35forever

If it's a standing ovation, it should be longer than the one on Memorial Day.

It better be the loudest and longest standing ovation for a visiting player in the history of Chicago sports. Followed by a solo shot after the Sox are up 5-0 already.

He's not Magglio, give Frank the standing ovation.

Give him the longest standing ovation until he cries. With any luck he'll strike out because of all the tears. Sorry, love the player, but love the laundry even more.

Start clapping and cheering. Anything less is unacceptable.

Mr. Frank Thomas shoud be greeted with the longest standing Ovation The Cell has ever heard. That man is synonomyous with White Sox baseball in the past decade+

I'm definitally for the standing ovation. In fact, I'm thinking of getting tickets to the game he is first back in. Hopefully he won't be injured

Exactly. If you boo him and/or don't cheer for him, then you don't deserve to be called a White Sox fan.

How do you figure? He won those two back to back and then the one that MLB took away from Giambi for the use of steriods.

MLB can count however they want, but the way I'm counting, he's got three already.

Amen, brother! He's the best hitter in a Sox uniform any of us have ever seen. Why would anyone think about booing this man? He wanted to stay here.

I live 300 miles from the park and don't have a season ticket plan,
but I WILL take the day off and I WILL have tickets for the May 22nd game
and if the White Sox front office has any brains
(and they have proven that they do) they will make that day:
FRANK THOMAS DAY

I definitely agree with this.

A mammoth ovation is obvious

Hearing Gene do this again (And even when announcing the A's lineup at the beginning of the game), I wanna hear "#35, Fraaaaaank Thomas"

Followed by an ovation so loud they have to stop the game

:gulp:

Boo him! The nerve of Frank going and getting injured like that two years in a row. Everyone bring your batteries to throw!

It's kind of a ridiculous question. There's no reason not to give Frank a very long standing ovation the first time up. This isn't a situation where there are any bad feelings for Frank. He's gone because the Sox felt that it was best to go in a different direction, and they were probably right in doing so.

A standing ovation, a welcome sign on the center field scoreboard...then a 4 pitch strikeout from Vasquez.

It just hit me that this is final. I kind of thought he would rehab until May then sign with the Sox. I hope he has a monster year -- and the rest of the A's tank.

Frank Thomas is the greatest non-steroid using hitter in the modern era. He should retire into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Chicago White Sox. And, unlike Ernie Banks, Nellie Fox, Santo, Bob Love, Norm Van Lier, Ryne Sandberg and Gayle Sayers, Frank Thomas has a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RING. Standing ovation from me every time.

Standing O! I don't know how many of you remember when Harold was traded and came back, but when the Frank question came up it took me right back to that situation.

A little off the subject in a way, but when Harold was traded, and Fletcher(one of the guys he was traded for) would come up to bat, you could hear faint cries of "Harold, Harold"---kinda weird and cool at the same time.

I was going to start this thread when I got home tonight. I echo the sentiments of most everyone here. I recall Frank saying his comeback on Memorial day almost made him cry and was the most special time as a Sox player. This cannot be a polite ovation. The crowd needs to let Frank know how much we appreciated him. Make it loud and long enough where he has to tip his helmet a couple of times.

And hell, maybe even a curtain call after a strikout.

Na, I totally wouldn't mind Frank going deep, no matter the score or situation. I honestly wouldn't care. I hope he homers.

Yes, if they don't retire his number, they should have a mini-ring ceremony for the big man.

Excellent Point. Frank Thomas is our Hall Of Famer. Drafted by the White Sox, went thru the farm system. He wasnt acquired in a Fire Sale, wasnt stolen from another team under duress. Hes our guy. Standing O.

I just realized I have this game as part of my Ozzie plan. :Rocker:

I used best available and got upper deck tickets if that tells you anything. This game will definitely be sold out. I'm also betting that a lot of people use this as their "free" game from the Soxfest hotel package.

I will gladly cheer for Frank Thomas at this game. He has mean so much to this franchise and all of it's fans. It would be great to see the White Sox do a ring ceremony for him before the game and retire his number. No Sox player should be allowed to wear number 35 besides THE BIG HURT. He is my all time favorite Sox player and just because the name on on the front of his jersey changed doesn't mean I like him any less. Good luck in Oakland Frank!

This whole thread is one giant joke, right? If this game doesn't sell out I'll be AMAZED. I was at the game when Maggs came back (I think that's the Crede walk off day, too) and it was sold out. Why not for Frank against what will be a better team?
