over the years, our beloved white sox have had a rotating door of DH's, which brought me to thinking, who has been my favorite. i was able to see the end of Harold Baines' career, but i would have to say that sexual chocolate carl everett has been a favorite of mine, along with the big hurt of course.

I really liked that one guy who used to play for us, what was his name.....Frank Thomas.

If you take a poll, Frank wins favorite player ever on this board. Trust me, it's been done.

So, the answer seems pretty obvious as to who will win favorite DH.

Is there some particular reason you chose to throw in the "sexual chocolate" comment or is that the main reason to make the post in the first place? :?:

The Big Hurt is the best and Harold Baines is my favorite. Bo Jackson was very exciting to watch. I'm interested to hear more from those big Baines fans out there!

Thomas, best Sox hitter. Baines, best Sox clutch hitter. Both deserve to be elected to the Hall of Fame in my opinion.

Favorite Greg Luzinski!
Best Frank Thomas

Exactly! Luzinski could crush the ball, and watching him run the bases was hilarious, but I always got out of my seat for Thomas.

For the sake of this thread, let's just call it favorite DH after "The Big Hurt" Frank Thomas.

I really liked Bo Jackson, he was fun to watch.

Frank Thomas is the best White Sox DH ever and I believe the best DH ever. Baines would be my vote for second best White Sox DH.

You've got to be kidding! There's no way any White Sox fan should think of Harold Baines as their favorite designated hitter.

The Harold Baines that lives on in my memory has sound legs and is out in right field. He's an American League all-star.

The same goes for Frank Thomas. He's a first baseman. The fact that he later shifted to designated hitter duties should not detract from the fact that his biggest years included playing the field.

Bo Jackson may be a heart-warming comeback story. But there's really only one big Sox hitter who should come to mind when it comes to DH. Greg Luzinski (the Bull) is the man!

Hey......I didn't write the definition of what a designated hitter should be. Also, read the title of this thread. Everyone you mention above played the field for most of their careers. Even Luzinski played in the NL for 11 years with the Phillies as a position player. He was the Sox DH for 4 years. You will find that most people will say Frank then Harold with the "Bull" a close third. There are a HUGE amount of Baines loyalists here. Let them be!

Hey, can I get an honorable mention for Eddie Cadel (sp??)

Didn't play for the Sox, the Browns, but it was my favorite White Sox owner who signed him and sent him to bat.

Naturally, this applies only after I say Frank Thomas was my favorite White Sox DH.

With all due respects to Frank Thomas, but I would have Harold Baines as my favorite White Sox DH. As I will always remember the Big Hurt as a first baseman. Now my favorite White Sox first baseman would be the Big Hurt.

eddie gaedel. he was roughly a quarter century too early to join in on the dh party, but even so, he WAS short. and in the end, isn't that what matters?
