View Full Version : Report: Wade Miller to sign with Cubs

01-23-2006, 04:33 PM
Cubs signed RHP Wade Miller, who had been with the Red Sox, to a one-year contract.
ESPN.com reported that the contract is worth $1 million and includes $1 million in incentives. There's nothing wrong with that, but we'd like it quite a bit more if there was an option for 2007 attached. Miller, who underwent labrum surgery at the end of September, hopes to be back pitching in the majors in May, but not a lot should be expected of him this year. The signing can be taken as another indication that Jerome Williams has no real place in the Cubs' plans. Miller could bump Williams or Glendon Rusch out of the rotation after he returns. If Kerry Wood is healthy, then it's also possible that Miller might pitch out of the pen. Jan. 23 - 4:26 pm et

Not a bad move for the Northsiders, but won't help them do much more than hang on to 3rd place.
