God, does anyone want to even try to win the NL Central?? The Astros were leading the Pirates 8-2 going into the ninth and gave up SEVEN runs to lose 9-8!?!? F'ing pathetic!

OMG...Seven runs...did they bring Wagner in at all?

And now Sham-ME just tied the game.

Jeez... Giles hit a 2 out Grand Slam off of Wagner..... *^%( Astros... and I gotta go to work (16 year old in a pizza parlor!) tonight and face all the cubs fans (there's maybe 3-4 in the whole place.....5 times Cubs fans...ugh)

OMG, I just looked at the game log and it's even worse than I thought. They gave up all 7 runs after two outs!!!!! Wagner came in with 2 on, hit one guy and then gave up the game-winning slam. That's unreal.

That has got to be the biggest comeback by any team with 2 outs in the 9th.

God, does anyone want to even try to win the NL Central??

After watching how the Cardinals are playing the answer is no!
But they are getting JD Drew back soon so that is good news.

And now Sham-ME just tied the game.

And the Cards just took back the lead!
5-4 top 8

This is the weakest the NL Central's been in years. You're right -- NO ONE wants to win the frigging division. For the Astros to blow a 6-run lead against the lousy Pirates with 2 outs in the 9th is unfathomable.

I fully expect the Flubs to win the division almost by default. Their hitting sucks, but their pitching is just consistent enough and their schedule is just weak enough for them to squeak by. However, with the signing of McGriff, the pressure is absolutely 100% on the Flubs; if they *don't* win, no one will have any excuses (e.g. "we would have won if that stupid McGriff would have signed with us").

And we all know how the Flubs perform under pressure.

Cards are now up 7-4, so I assume that you may now have to start watching the Cards since the Astros suck so bad.

There are 3 days until the trading deadline. Hopefully, the Astros can pick up some pitching help--they sure need it. I couldn't believe Wagner's implosion this afternoon.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but let's tell it straight: the Cubs win that division in a hand ride. The Astros are very much like us - extremely young pitching and overrated hitting. The hitting is overrated for the same reason ours is: few left handed bats and too many players who can't get on base. They have a strong 4 man corps of hitters like us.
I don't think this is the Astros' year, but they will be good in the years to come, just like us.

Sound analysis Tragg dude--there are a lot of similarities between the two clubs. But, like drowning men, we clutch at every straw. The Grubs must be stopped!!
