Does anyone know if anyone in particular is credited with coming up with the Sox current logo? When was this first used? I know the Sox brought it back in 1990, but what year (back in the 50s?) did was it first used?

I'm certainly biased here, but I think this is one of the greatest logos in baseball. It's unique, a classic, and just plain cool looking.

That date also coincides with the time that Chuck Comiskey became involved in running the club. I've read somewhere that the logo was his idea.

You're correct TornLabrum, Chuck Comiskey did indeed come up with the Old English S-O-X interlocking logo.

I was at a game at old Comiskey Park in 1989 with my buddy Wayne (die hard Orioles fan) to see a Sox -O's game, and a vendor of mine gave me some really awesome Box Seats behind home plate.

I spotted Chuck Comiskey (the Old Roman's grandson) sitting a section over from us, and I nudged my buddy Wayne and told him who it was. We made it a point to exit the ballpark at the same time he did and got to talk to him for a few minutes.

I was wearing my brand new White Sox Team Jacket by Starter, and Chuck noticed it right off and then told me that the Sox were going to change their uniforms back to the Old English logo when they moved in to the new ballpark. (That was still 1 1/2 years away!)

I told Chuck Comiskey that I LOVED that logo, and was overjoyed at the news that they were changing back to the old look. He said, I'm glad to hear that, because I actually designed that logo.

I told him that I never knew that before, and then we talked a little more about the old ballpark and how sad we were that its' days were numbered. We shook his hand told him it was a pleasure talking, and said goodbye.

But I always felt privelidged that I had met Chuck Comiskey and that he told me the Sox were going to change their uniforms a year in advance of the "official announcement" of it in Sept. of 1990.
