Theo Epstein surfaced Friday and gave interviews on rock stations KISS108 and WZLX. (he promoting the big Gammons rock bash Sunday)

When asked if Johnny Damon would still be a Yankee if he were the GM, Epstein replied “Probably, given the way it’s gone down. I hate to comment on negotiations when I’m not directly involved in them but I’ll say this, I don’t think anyone’s at fault for the way things transpired. Johnny did what was best for him and his family. The Yankees, given the need they had at leadoff and in center field, did the right thing for them. They did a good job in the negotiation. And the Red Sox offered $10 million a year and really adhered to the philosophy of setting a value on a player, remaining disciplined through the course of the negotiation, a philosophy that played a large role in 95-plus wins three years in a row and as tough as it is when you lose players, as tough as it is on the fans, that philosophy will serve the fans well in the long run because it will lead to winning teams.”

Judging from Gammons' face, I'd guess the song he's playing is "Medicare Plan D Blues."

Again...truly disgusting how self-indulgent the east coast sports mafia is.

No Doubt this will bring back my memories of the Fillmore West in the '60's. I can hardly wait.

Looking at the expression on the drummer's face, I think he'd (the drummer)rather be pulling latrine duty after a frat party......

You guys rip on Peter Gammons but he's been pretty complimentary of the Sox. Sure he's pretty eastern centric but he's no Chris Berman or Brantly. In fact I remember in 2003 him talking about how dangerous the Sox would be in the playoffs with Loaiza, Buehrle, Colon.

Gammons quotes on the concert. I'm sure you will all buy his CD :D:

On the guitar he played at last night’s concert: “I played a Fender Strat that my good friend John Keegan, and his family, bought for me when I went into the Hall of Fame. John called the guys at Fender and asked for a great guitar, and it’s become my favorite. I have an old Les Paul, too, but I really like the Strat.”

On the songs he played: “They were mostly ones we’re playing in the studio. One was “She Fell from Heaven,” which I wrote. I’m a big Warren Zevon fan, so I did one of his. Another was “Nyquil Blues,” a song that some country guy did -- ‘I just can’t be satisfied unless my tongue is green!’”

On recording an album: “Last year, after I played 'She Fell from Heaven,' Ed Valauskas said I should do it. I thought he was kidding, but Mike Denneen called and said to come down to the Q-Division studio and start recording. It’s really been quite the experience. It’s actually a little intimidating, because the guys I’m playing with are such great professional musicians. But it’s coming along pretty well. I’m co-writing one of the songs with Bill Janovitz, and Juliana Hatfield will sing on it. It’s called ‘Come Later On.’”

If you're a drummer and this is the best gig you can land, it's time to stop being a drummer. (the guy looks absolutely thrilled to be playing in the Plastic Gammons Band)

That look on the drummer's face is 100% "I hope my girlfriend and/or buddies do not walk into this bar, oh please God, I just have student loans to pay off, that's all..."
