Actually, looks a bit low. that is under $75M total and I thought they were pushing $90M already.

I am - those do not take into consideration money included in deals.

The list linked shows the White Sox with a higher "average payroll per player" than the Cubs in 2005.

However, when you include things like, I don't know, the $16 mil the Cubs had to eat on Sosa's contract, the Cubs had a higher payroll.

White Sox - $78.37 mil net payroll (13th in MLB)

http://www.hardballdollars.com/team.php?team=whitesox&name=White%20Sox&year=2005

Cubs - $107.20 mil net payroll (4th in MLB)

http://www.hardballdollars.com/team.php?team=cubs&name=Cubs&year=2005

Top 13 in 2005
NY Yankees
Boston
NY Mets
Cubs
Anaheim
St. Louis
Philadelphia
Seattle
Los Angeles
San Francisco
Atlanta
Detroit (O D O Magglio)
Chicago White Sox

The Yankees paid Contreras' bonus and sent $3 million in 2004, so his contract will cost $8 million this season. Not sure if you would pro-rate that or consider the money gone from an actuarial standpoint.

D/Backs paying $1 million towards Vazquez this season, $3 million next ($10.5 million this year, $9.5 million next).

We're paying Thome $24 million for three years (average of contract thus is $8 million), the Phillies are sending $22 million our way.

Buehrle is $7.75 million

We have an slightly older thread (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=62847)back on page 3 tracking the changes. Although it seems like Kenny likes making BIG MOVES every other week to keep the fan faithful in line. Smart guy, I think he's finally figured "it" out.

What I'm trying to say is that my payroll picture isn't quite up to date (I have AJ listed at $5.0M). However, filling in the blanks and using SouthSides' format:

2006 Chicago White Sox Payroll:

C AJ Pierzynski $4.00 mil
1B Paul Konerko $12.00 mil
2B Tadahito Iguchi $2.40 mil
SS Juan Uribe $3.15 mil
3B Joe Crede (unsigned) - Estimated $1.50M
RF Jermaine Dye $5.00 mil
CF Brian Anderson (unlisted $0.35 mil)
LF Scott Podsednik $1.90 mil
DH Jim Thome $8.00 mil

SP Mark Buehrle $7.65 mil
SP Jon Garland (unsigned) - Estimated $6.00M
SP Freddie Garcia $9.00 mil
SP Jose Contreras $6.00 mil
SP Javier Vazquez $9.00 mil

RP Dustin Hermanson $3.00 mil
RP Cliff Politte $1.20 mil
RP Bobby Jenks (unlisted $0.35 mil)
RP Brandon McCarthy (unlisted $0.35 mil)
RP TBA - Estimated $0.35M
RP TBA - Estimated $0.35M

C Chris Widger $0.65 mil
OF Joe Borchard (unlisted $0.35 mil)
IF / OF Rob Mackowiak (unsigned) - Estimated $1.00M
IF Pablo Ozuna $0.50 mil
OF (or RP) TBA - Estimated $0.35M

I total out $88.59M including F.Thomas and C.Everetts buyouts. The 'active' payroll is $84.59M.

Relief pitcher to be announced...someone like a Tracey or Bajenaru I would assume, Redding, etc.

Yeah, I know - I was just joking because Neal Cotts (pictured) was left off this list and his bullpen spot was replaced with a RP TBA.

Regardless, it won't change the salary totals because Cotts makes the league minimum.

Yes I forgot Neal Cotts :tsk: .

The Website I used gives the gross salary and then gives the net cash coming in (or going out) leading to pretty much the same conclusion as others have posted (seven ways from Sunday) we will be just under $90 million unless Kenny "Felix the Cat" Williams reaches into his bag of tricks and makes one (or more) major deals before Spring Training.

How could you leave off Neal Cotts, he is one of the key players in our Bullpen, and he is considered "untouchable" by Kenny. He is also dirt cheap considering he is now one of the top set-up men in the game.

I already addressed this (see above). Get over it.
