I don't know, Ponson and Busch seem like a natural fit.

I guess the White Sox weren't too interested in Felix Rodriguez for their bullpen either.
It will be interesting to see who wins Marte's spot. Obviously, McCarthy/6th starter would take Vizcaino's.

Ah, remember the good old days when people around here were downright outraged that the Sox didn't pony up to win the Sidney Ponson raffle?
:KW
You called me a moron then, and turnabout is fair play, but I have no time for insults as I am getting my ring finger sized today.

Suddenly the St Louis bars have become dangerous places and judges down there are running for cover

Everyone on the Orioles board claims Ponson (if said correctly, translates to "whale" in spanish) needed a change of scenery and will win 20 games next season.

They're going to have a tough time keeping him away from the Budweiser factory tours.

Appears to be a low risk / high reward type of deal. Might turn out to be a good move for the Cardinals.

Agreed. See: Chris Carpenter. Though Chris had a high ceiling, if I recall, being a high draft pick.

With Carpenter, Mulder, Suppan, Marquis, Ponson, and Reyes....the Cards are in a similar position as us except they have lineup holes, though admittedly those 6 guys are less solid than ours. If Marquis can fetch a nice 2B and RF, they may trade him and take another flier on a non tendered starter.

1 year 1 million dollar deal.
Not bad considering what pitchers are going for now.
I mean, the guy has sucked it up hardcore the last two years (last year: 7-11 6.21 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, .331 BAA... jeeeeez), but he's only a couple years removed from the 2003 where he went 17-12 with a 3.75 ERA.
St. Louis fans should be happy. they've got nothing to lose on this one.

Or low tolerance / high BAC.
