The Cubs and Nationals might be discussing a deal that would send Kerry Wood to Washington for Jose Vidro and Ryan Church, according to the Washington Examiner's Jim Williams.
This is being treated as a legitimate rumor, but we're highly skeptical. With a knee injury that could limit him for the rest of his career and three years and $23 million remaining on his contract, Vidro should be nearly untradeable. Also, Wood has a no-trade clause, so he could block any deal. Williams says that if the deal goes down, it would happen closer to spring training.

Not gonna happen, Jawa. The Cubs need Wood in the rotation for their world series run.

This rumor was apparently also in the Washington Examiner (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/scorecard/12/20/truth.rumors.mlb/index.html).

Now, I'll be honest, I lived in the DC area for 18 years, and this is the first time I've ever even heard of the Washington Examiner...so take it for what you will.

Cubs would totally be ripping them off, Forget Wood(s) and Vidro...Church is going to be pretty darn solid. Some good number for a hitter's park last year.
