Lofton signed a one-year deal, earning at least $3.5 million. He will bat second and play CF.

I'm warning you fellas. What you just said about the Dodgers, people all around baseball were saying about us last offseason. EXACTLY what you said, people were saying about the World Champions to-be.

I don't quite think that's exactly true.

Last offseason:

-everybody was asking where Uribe's power had come from.

- who this Iguchi guy was.

- why we signed Mr Curl Up & Dye

- would Rowand repeat his offensive surge

- could PK repeat his performance

- our sanity of trading CLee for a pair of neverwuzs

- Was AJ a cancer or would he revert to his Twins form

- Was the world on the backs of Contreras and El Duque

Here's one preview:

So their lineup as of now is:

1. Furcal
2. Lofton
3. Garciaparra
4. Kent
5. Drew
6. Mueller
7. Cruz
8. Navarro

If everyone is healthy (that's a huge if), that's not a bad lineup.

The only thing that annoys me about Lofton is how annoying Cubs fans (including WSCR blowhard Mike Murphy) keep talking about how he'd be a savior on the Cubs.

This move means that no matter what, the Dodgers will be in the playoffs.

That is how it works with teams that acquire Lofton...

...except us.:(:

Hah, yeah, he wasn't Kenny Lofton we were used to seeing when he was with us in 2002. Hence, he got traded.

I read somewhere that Drew would still bat third and Nomar would be fifth.

Ok, that could be. They may mix that up depending on matchups, but I can see that.

I was reading that preview link, and:

"Hes also got a reputation of not working well with pitchers, which could be problematic with this staff."

Funny.

I still can't forgive "KennyMan" for sinking two free throws with 1 second left to beat us in the sectional championship in the second overtime. He played for our crosstown rivals East Chicago Washington, they did make the final 4 that year so they probably deserved it. Well, good luck to a hometown guy anyway. He has had a hell of a career.

I've read Garciaparra will bat 5th and Drew 3rd. Everything is speculation until opening day though. I've been reading too much baseball news.....

I guess that I missed the Phillies making the playoffs this year.
