But wait, there's more. The Astros had to rework Oswalt's contract to include this expensive gift. So before the presentation, Oswalt had to sign off on something along the lines of "gargantuan mustard yellow farm equipment" added to the language of his $16.9 million contract. "He had to sign an addendum to his contract that said we can give him a bulldozer," general manager Tim Purpura said. "This is the first time a player has ever had a bulldozer clause entered into his contract."

Pretty bizarre...

... it's no wonder that Oswalt is such a head-hunter, he has visions of Kill-Dozer dancing thru his head...

This guy is REALLY WEIRD. A contract item for a CAT. Wow.

Most guys just want sports cars. He wants a house crusher.

Is that 16.9 mill for 1 or 2 years?

This is a great deal for all involved. Oswalt is from Weir, Mississippi; a town that was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina. A D6 is the perfect size for clearing debris and general residential construction type duty.

Also, since this area has a certain amount of catfish farming, a D6 would be the perfect size for building/ clearing/ maintaining catfish pens.

As bonuses go, this one may be a bit wacky, but at $230,000 I can't say a D6 is an excessive one.

At least it was a Cat, which is made in the USA, as opposed to a Kaumatso.

I love the answer to the question of "What's the best part of getting a new bulldozer?"

Oswalt says: "Now I can stop borrowing my dad's."
