Currently running 35% Yes, 65% No.

Any chance we can change that?

I'm not surprised. The economics of the game aren't condusive for repeat championships--in any sport. Furthermore, I bet if you asked the average MSNBC fan whether the Sox just won the World Series, even that would be a nail biter.

hahahaha. an econ professor once told me, "i don't understand why people are so excited when they win the lottery. the way i look at it, you have a 50-50 chance, either you win, or you lose." one of the funniest profs. i've ever had.

And?

And that's about 3500% more than the White Sox got last year at this time. Anybody know the current odds on the White Sox winning the WS in Las Vegas?

You realize, of course, that the outcome of this poll really won't influence whether the Sox repeat in 2006? Don't you? So who really cares.

Forgive me, but I think most of that 35% is White Sox fans. I recently heard on The Score that a poll that said (I think it was) 35% of voters think Corey Patterson should start for the Cubs next season. Whoever was behind the mic said that number had to be White Sox fans.

The fact that that is a legitimate question still blows my mind. How awesome, who cares what the answer is when that question can be asked!!!

Cub fans would give their left nut to read that question some day. Fortunately they NEVER will.

Sweet. That's worth 10 1/2 of the flags on MLB's trophy.

Sox are 7-1, tied with St. Louis. Yankees are the favorite at 4-1.

Which really has me perplexed.

St Louis has a good team, probably the best in the NL.

The Yankees have a new contender to deal with Toronto.

The A's and Seattle are re-arming and both should make some noise out west.

Cleveland has a strong team.

And the White Sox have solidly improved a 99 win team.

Unless this goes strictly by money. I'm sure more New Yorkers have more money to throw away betting on the Yankee$.

You mean betting going by sentiment and reflecting which set of fans has a larger pool of money because they're a larger set of fans. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. I always thought that Vegas odds reflected the best informed opinions.
