Oh, and being AT the controversial ALCS Game 2 even tops these two just mentioned! :D:

Now, I know that scoring 14 runs against Boston might make you giddy, and its certainly nice to finally win an ALDS game, but consider this.

Clement left so quickly that he's going to be available out of the bullpen for later games in the series. Don't judge him just by ths one off-day -- he has electric stuff. Also, tomorrow we're up against David Wells and he's one of those crafty pitchers that gives us fits. Remember all those times in 2003/2004 where we scored 10 runs in one game and then got shut out the next? If I'm Mark Buehrle today, I yell "Save some for tomorrow" out of the dugout.

It can easily be tied 1-1 after tomorrow, and Boston has all the advantages when it gets to that point. Let's not get too worked up.

Here is a stat to chew on. If the Red Sox can jump out to a 4 run lead early they will be fine because 164 times David Wells has had a 4 run lead he has never lost.

Still gagging from all the fireworks smoke

Mark my words, this team is going all the way. I know it's awfully early, but I see something different in this team that I didn't in any of our previous playoff years. This'll be over in three and we might lose one game the rest of the way. I just don't see anybody competing with us.

Nice win, but we blew all our runs. Now we're gonna get shut out tomorrow and go to Boston tied and Wakefield will probably shut us down.

But on the slim chance that we do win this series, there's no doubt in my mind our pitchers are throwing 4 complete games next series.

What a great start for our Sox! It's almost like I was actually at the game and then got to see it on TV also. Berman is such a Boston homer....

The game was marred only by my brand new DVD recorder, which had worked perfectly up until today, inexplicably stopping recording with 22(?) minutes left to go. I now have a 7.5 inning version of Game 1 of the 2005 ALDS archived for all time.

Still, I wouldn't count on Tony G's glove costing them the game. If anything, it will be some blunder in the outfield.

I think the bullpen is going to ultimately win this one for us, the middle relief especially. Thankfully, El Duque has done pretty well against Boston in the past. Hopefully he will get his chance to shine!

Oh but I was at the game today and I must say that I disagree! It was awesome to be able to see the beginging of our world championship run live and in person. I was in section 117 and it was a blast, especially when these redcub fans one section over started chanting when they scored their two runs. Glad I didn't have to sit at home and listen to Berman, though he's not all that biased, I mean, he would never refer to the redcubs as "we" or anything like that

<Dark Cloud rant> I don't care how much they scored today, it was a fluke. This team needed to get another bat at the deadline and all they got was Blum. Wait until they have to face Wells, Wakefield, and then maybe Schilling. They won't be scoring as many runs and Boston's offense will be scoring a ton. There is no way that the pitching will continue to contain Manny and Ortiz. Why was El Puke put on the roster, he won't be contributing anything and McCarthy could have helped more than he ever will.
Why did they get Blum anyway, he is never going to do anything to help this team. He didn't even get to play in garbage time today. I bet he never gets an at bat during the postseason. Even if he does it won't be anything meaningful.
Enjoy this because I bet it is our only win this postseason. This team will never win a championship until Jerry cells.</Dark Cloud rant>

Great game! An ex-Yankee has shown that he can still beat the Red Sox, even in another uniform. El Duque also used to play for the Yankees. We all know he won't be starting this series, but maybe he can still make something happen. We'll just have to see over these next few days. Go (White) Sox!!!! That's one down!

I'm worried about the Sox. THey used all of their runs.

I was in chat today during the game and made the claim that I would drink Drano if Podsednik hit a homer. I didn't do that, but I will live up to my other claim. I said I would drink a gallon of anti-freeze if the Sox starters can put together 4 straight complete games in the post-season. I'm pretty confident I won't be drinking that.

(I really did make that statement in the chat today. Just ask Cheeses or anyone else who was in there.)

Seriously, everyone go to chat tomorrow. It was a teal parade today, and it was funny. I played the role of Shoota and bashed Crede and claimed his glove will cost us in theh post season. I said the play where Iguchi threw to 3rd shouldn't count.

Great game. I was beginning to see shades of 2000 and 93 when they hit that little duck snort to right. Luckily the bats were alive. Luckily, I've got the enitre month off for these games. I'll either be celebrating with some drinks or drowning in my sorrows. It feels like deja vu for some reason.

Here's what I'm worried about: With the warm weather, the balls were jumping off the bats, but I'm not sure how our hitters will react when the temps get a little colder.

If the Sox don't come through this month, it's going to be a long winter with the way the Bears are playing.

My only fear, as was stated above, is that the Sox scored all their freakin runs in one game. Dye and Iguchi -- where were they today? They need to step up bigtime.

No doubt! They'll offer him 6 years at $15 mil. per and JR will be too cheap to match. Damn you Kenny! You should have resigned him when you had the chance. Now he's leaving for sure!

Oh well. At least we'll have Frank back and healthy. Maybe Rowand can compensate for the loss of Paulie by getting back to his 2004 numbers. He'll be winning Gold Gloves for the Sox for years to come! Chris Young, too!

This was the first Sox playoff game I'd been to, and it turned out pretty well. :D:
The thing I'll always remember is the feeling after the game as everyone was coming down the ramps. There was optimism in the air that this team could really do something. That obviously turned out to be accurate, but I'll have to keep watching Comcast to make sure.
